Why would I buy the floaudio Lily, when I can get the Ultimate Ears 600, a single top fired knowles BA tuned by Jerry Harvey, for $25.00? These things are a decade old, and yet sound incredibly awesome for a single BA, with quick punchy bass (Jerry Harvey specialty) and beautiful highs.
Thanks for mentioning this. Didn’t know these existed. Decided to get a pair on Amazon for $36 CAD out of curiosity.

u12t or u4t? Nice 👍
This is the U12t and I can't believe there is no DD in there!

Before this IEM I hated all BA IEM's and the lack of bass decay and note weight.

Also how come nobody talks about pressure build up or am I just super sensitive to this?

The GS Audio SE12 I get 2 minutes before it kills me. KiwiEars ORL 5 min.

Well, manufacturers would be foolish if burn-in exists to that degree, and they don’t do that before shipping, especially for an ultra expensive product. One 2/5 review and they are done for. If they are sold in physical store, they can’t afford to have their product unprepared out of the box, since customers can A/B test right there.

Speaking of burning in, Final Audio makes a strong case that your mind needs time to adjust to the new sound, so they ask you to be patient before making judgments. That’s fair enough.

I vaguely remember that Dunu runs their IEMs through before packing for shipping. I can’t recall burn in instructions in the package of any Dunu product I have tested.

I did notice that my second impressions tend to be more positive than first impressions with most recent products. But I don’t leave them burning or something like that. Just put away and come back the next day with fresh ears.
I sat in a shop and had an example of the IER-Z1R that wasn’t mine played with my favorite ear-tips at the time. This was the stores demo unit and they had 200 hours on it. (They said)

I had decided to buy the IER-Z1R without even trying it. So my (pre-ordered) box was in my hands and I was getting ready to pay for it. When I got home the brand new IER-Z1R was totally bass shy. It wasn’t until it had 100 hours of burn-in that it started to sound about 90% of what the shops sounded like. It is serial number 124, and it finally did sound like the shops at 200 hours.

I was using the WM1A as the DAP, with both the shops IER-Z1R (I brought mine) and the home IER-Z1R unit.

That was proof enough for me. I don’t care what anyone says. The IER-Z1R bass was way different out of the box, compared to the stores demo unit. I don’t need anymore proof.

Not sure why so many haters for mechanical burn in on dynamic drivers. How can so many people never have had a worn out bass driver or a fresh one that the surround is super stiff ? There are more drivers out there than IEM's peeps.
Expand your horizons.

High five 🙌

I played Skyrim with these last weekends. OMG :dt880smile:

Now that I have these in my hands, my quest becomes: what is the cheapest thing that achieves the same sound. When I finally find that, you can be sure that I would be spam the thread even harder.

Btw, these are nightmares for source rolling lovers. They change very little due to the special circuit inside. Yes, maybe a bit more detailed, a bit more this and that, but I haven’t heard them outright bad with anything.

Correct, it changes the impedance curve, resulting in more bass quanity.
You seriously need more bass from the SR5? Brotha, you are truly a BASSHEAD.

Well many many don’t believe in burn-in. Crinacle and HBB don’t believe in it at all.

I bet you'll like them? They were one of the higher rated single BA back in the day. I bought and sold them, but to be honest, repurchased them for the UE sili tips, but when getting reacquainted for acoustic, jazz, and light rock, they actually sounded SO GOOD for a decade old BA IEM.

I found the Fiio HS18 eartips were good on IEMs with driver flex. The thin silicon seems to seal without pressure buildup. They don't alter the tuning as much as switching to foams, which also works. I used them on Audiosense AQ0 and Flo Audio Calla.:L3000:

Pressure build up in the Orchestra Lite is real, but I get used to it after awhile, but I think every internet reviewer mentions this issue. No venting. Pressure.

They just say that because they can't be bothered with burning in IEMs. They literally have hundreds of FREE product rolling in every few months, so there is absolutely NO TIME for them to burn anything in to comment on it changing at any point. Plus they have to stick to their initial thoughts and impressions, otherwise people will start questioning their reviews and their ratings, and hence their legitimacy, so they mostly stick to their initial impressions, and then move on to the next shiny thing to review.

Interesting, never noticed the pressure build-up, but I do believe it happens with some people? No venting good for sound occlusion, bad for pressure, if that affects you!

That makes total sense, it’s troublesome with the few this peasant........(I) get every month. :)

But Z Reviews does burn-in!

I think I did mentioned in my review of Orchestra Lite. It’s not the most comfortable experience. My trick is to pull the IEM against the ear canals to break the seal a bit to balance the pressure between the canal and the outside before sealing it again. Using flimsy tips like HS18 also works.

Of course if you are rolling in dole, grab 64 audio IEMs or FirAudio with APEX vents. Or if you are on a budget, stick to open dynamic IEMs like JD7. Or use flat head earbuds.
