Rank the Headphones that You Own.
Oct 19, 2017 at 5:35 PM Post #6,017 of 8,138
1) HD800SDR
2) LCD3
3) HEK

4) SR202
5) SR404
6) HE560
7) T90
8) Campfire Orion
9) HD580
10) K702

11) MS1
12) RS180
13) K271
14) QC25
15) G933

16) generic earbuds and vintage headphones kept "foor the looks" or as props

Rankings may vary depending on music type, amp/dac-synergy, mood of the day and so on ... mostly so among the top 3.

Also considered headtime and comfort as a factor into the ranking.

I actually use all the top 15 headphones, some more than others though.

I use 1-11 for actually enjoying music, whereas the others are more for specific purposes where sound quality is not the only or not of major concern.

1. LCD-4
2. LCD-X / HE1000 V2
3. LCD-3F
4. HE-500
5. Senn HD-650

Although certainly different signatures still cannot decide which is "better" between LCD-X and HE-1000 V2, hence both rated for position 2 equally

1.) Beyerdynamic T 90
2.) German Maestro GMP 400
3.) Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro(1. Generation)
4.) MB Quart QP 95
5.) Sennheiser HD 530/HD 530 II
6.) AKG K 240 Sextett and Beyerdynamic DT 531
7.) Beyerdynamic DT 331
8.) Beyerdynamic DT 75
9.) Beyerdynamic DT 211 TV
10.) Sennheiser HD 33

With T 90 and GMP 400 are satisfied enough so far. Currently I test the difference between both.
Ranking 4. , 5. and 6. are difficult to decide. The are very similar good, a bit different in character.
10. was my first headphones in 1991, light stereo for portable audio and 40 Deutsche Mark.

More or less done with headphones after getting into speakers. Here's a list of everything I've owned in my 1 year of the hobby. I had owned a few things a few years ago, but I've only been "seriously" looking for a headphone the past year. They are listed in terms of how much I want to listen to them, not technical ability or anything like that. Just if I'm going to listen to headphones, I'm much more likely to listen to #2 than #4 or 5, etc. List includes some open IEMs because they sounded more like full headphones to me.

1) Beyerdynamic T5P ii
2) Audioquest Nighthawk
3) Stax 002/003mk2
4) LCD 2.2 Pre Fazor
5) Koss ESP 950
6) Sennheiser HD800
7) Audeze iSine 20/10
8) Monoprice M1060
9) Sennheiser HD700
10) Audeze Sine
11) JVC SZ2000
12) Oppo PM3

Weird side headphone: Sony PFR-V1. This one doesn't really have a number, it's just cool.

Wish I could quit. Just couldn't resist Audeze LCD X $500.00 discount on their site. I received them about a week ago and love them. Have about 15 hours ear time after burn in.

The X is great studio signature .I heard and didn't want to take them off..This is why i want that mx4 so bad :p A bit heavy, but not as heavy as i would have imagined. Do you have experience with 900st by Sony? With that much of a discount, a 900st + LCD-X would make a great combo i bet :D The Aeon closed + 900st/z1000 would also be a great combo for studio type scenerio.

I have not heard the Sony 900st's but I understand they have somewhat of a cult following in Japan. I don't have a problem with the X's weight. I have had LCD 2F's for awhile so I guess I got used to Audeze's weight. I am going to get a set of Mrspeakers Aeon closed in the near future.

This can definitely become an addiction and definitely is for me. I have been searching for a treatment center or should I say my wife is.

Some cans I'd not heard about before...the Kennerton and Pioneer. Both look very interesting. And, both beat the Utopia. Thanks.

I heard the Pioneer, at the Top? Good word: "interesting"

According to use:

1. Trelab X2. The convenience of true wireless iem's is a blessing. The sound is better than I expected but not that important for commuting and brief use at work.
2. Yamaha EPH-100. Still a good combo with my "outdated" Ibasso DX50.
3. DIY EMX500. Ditto.
