B&W P5's. They suck for all but portable use.

They cost $300 new, I could now buy the HiFiMan HE-400's for $300 at Black Friday prices, so safe to say they were a bad decision, still have them though and use them when I fly, mainly because they are pretty nice looking.

I loved the LCD-2.2 sound, but after 6 months of headaches after 30 minutes straight- i couldn't take it anymore.

The experience was so much so that I actually ended up leaving headphone audio altogether. These days i can't even stand the most comfortable headphones like the HD800. IEMS and high end speakers now.

Planars do the whole headache thing. You might like the jvc dx1000/700 those don't do headaches and sound smooth with great bass and better soundstage.

harsh treble doesn't mean dark.

Dark=recessed treble or highs
Bright=harsh treble or emphasized highs.

prob just the wrong word used there.

Yeah, I'm not trying to give Tdock a hard time or anything, but I've never heard anyone claim that harsh treble + zero midbass = dark and warm. Or that the K701 is dark and warm.

Haha, every word from that old comment was a joke. I'm surprised nobody noticed I was just kidding around. Man, I have a bad sense of humor I guess.

I would say the K701 is slight leaning sounding in the low mids with only a slight touch of warmth. I prefer the Q701 which is much fuller sounding and smoother (to my ears).
K702/K702 has perhaps a larger/more spacious soundstage.

My most disappointing HP purchase was the Klipsch Image. Luckily they had a rattle in one side & they were the last in stock, so I got a refund. Incidentally the rattle was an extra screw stuck in the driver baffle & being held there by the driver magnet.
Interestingly I had notified Klipsch & sent them the receipt, but didn't hear back from them. That's when I returned them to the store. A week later I received a replacement Image 2 from Klipsch.  I notified them what had happened & Klipsch said that they do not need the HPs back. So, I now have a new unused pair of Image 2 headphones that cost me nothing & sound horrible to me. Way too bassy, Otherwise OK, but I can't get passed the exaggerated bass. Sigh....
