Yikes the HD 26 Pro only goes from 20-18k? Though I dig the "active guard" ideally, great if your monitoring anything in real time, especially a band

Non the less, original HD 25-1 II owner checking in yet again! I've had mine for a little over 2 years now and they are still kicking strong. Isolation is still crazy good and I'm looking forward to flying with these yet again here soon

Sadly, my "Made in Germany" HD-25's were among a lot of things stolen from my house when some ass decided to kick in my rear window...

That being said, there's a cash reward of $500 for anyone who successfully leads to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) responsible. Keep your eyes peeled for a fresh pair of Made in Germany HD-25II possibly still in a brown Gucci carry bag. They also stole a white Maschine Mk2 and an Akai MPD26, my Mid 2010 21" iMac, and my entire home theater sound system.

I got a second hd25 a month ago and an amperior like a week ago.
My first hd25 is made in Germany, so it's very old.
Second one is made in Ireland but has the older plug so also not that new.
However, the older one has less but tighter bass which either I am used too or is just perfect :D
The newer one lost some details with the additional bass.
Maybe a mod can be done.

When the velour pads, which the amperior should be used with, arrive, I'll post some impressions and differences from my point of view as well.

You can try sticking felt in the cups of the Irish HD25 to tame the bass as well as reduce cup resonances.
I have an Irish HD25 as well. I've tricked it out in a similar manner as the CustomCans dampening/mass loading mod kit.

The difference might also be due to the age and wear of the German HD25's cable or even manufacturing variation, as you could buy a dozen HD25s or HD280s, or whatever model, all the same, and hear minute differences between them all.

GS Voyager + HD25 is a great combo.

Both built to last a lifetime

I have to say though. As good as amps like the Voyager is with the HD25 the Chord Mojo really lifts these 'phones to another level entirely. Imagine hearing them at their best then multiplying that experience several fold and you get some idea of the Majic.

The ultimate albeit slightly expensive :frowning2: accessory for the classic Sennheiser. They are transformed, sounding so big beautiful and... open.

Can hardly wait till I get another Mojo at the end of the year when funds permit. Until then my HD25 are getting a bit of a rest for the most part.

Sennheiser hd25 became my favorite headphones even I have far more expensive headphones.
HD25 are really hard to beat in sound quality and made to last a lifetime, while others headphones comes and goes and once those stop production, u won't able to get parts anymore.
Sennheiser HD25 and Etymotic ER4 are there to stay, not many iems / headphones have the abilities to last this long, surely they are very special!

HD25 has a very balanced and natural midrange for the most part, then load its cups with Dynamat Xtreme and upgrade the cable to pretty much anything else and you'll get a very revealing headphone with a rather "natural-feeling" soundstage despite its tiny size, and its microdetail resolution pretty much beats everything under $200 with very few exceptions. It scales with source a bit, too.
Plus the durability, "serious business" look if you like that or don't want to attract attention beyond sports fans who've noticed the broadcast headset version of HD25 on reporters, and high passive isolation.

I've recently found the HD600 is an even better match to the Voyager than the HD25. This plain little box powered by a 9v battery does full justice to the 300ohm Sennheisers sounding very nearly as good as my full size amplifiers. Not many portable amps can manage that. The synergy of the 600 with the Voyager is almost, but not quite, as good as the HD25 with the Mojo.

The Voyager always sounded better than the Mojo to me with higher impedence phones (had Beyer DT150 at the time). British alchemy in electronics either way.

Hey guys, today I was experimenting a bit with my beloved hd25. I opened the cups and removed the cotton from the back of the driver. What a big difference!
Now the space between instruments is bigger and also the overall sound smoother. I listened to some track with the Dragonfly red that I usually found a bit harsh, and honestly, the harshness was not there. Also, there is something going on with the bass, It seems more punchy and extended.
I think without all the cotton the drive will breath more freely and the soundstage improve. I was a bit puzzled with smoother highs, maybe without the cotton, there is a bit of added reverb going on. Who knows... I was expecting things going badly harsh and it was the opposite.
Next step will be trying some aluminium foil (like the Custom Cans Uber mod). Anyway, I am pretty impressed by only removing the cotton.
Did anyone try this mod?

Yes, you do unleash more reverb than stock without the cotton disk.
