as for the Denon headphones.. it's really hard to get your hand on a pair, especially the 5000's. i can find a pair of Denon AHD-2000's for like $500, but that's pretty expensive.

I got mine from Amazon. Not sure what the deal is with their flagship, the 1R is their newest TOL can but the Z1000 msrp's for double.  I'll be getting the 1R as soon as Amazon has them because I need a folding can for the road and the 1R's have gotten some serious love around here.

i love the look and the build quality of the 550's but as many would know they don't have a detachable cable :/ if only they did haha.

The K702's have a detachable cable, but it uses a special plug into the headphones.
Not sure if it's proprietary, but I found a very good replacement cable on the secondary market.

I love the Z1000's, especially since I replaced the stock cable.
But I still enjoy listening to my other headphones.  :)

if the K702's don't leak ALLOT than i'd love to get a pair of AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition headphones, they might not be worth it for the price but i just LOVE the colour scheme and the headband over the standard version.

They do leak a lot (depending on your volume level). Also, they pretty much offer no isolation. 0 dB or lower except in the high frequencies

I love the Z1000's, especially since I replaced the stock cable.
But I still enjoy listening to my other headphones.  :)

I'll look for it shortly & post a link if it's still available.
Meantime, just want to let you know that the cable uses a 3.5 mini plug
at both ends; the headphone end has a screw type locking collar.
I use the replacement cable just plugged into the headphones -
it doesn't have a locking collar but does stay put.  I am going to
put a little bit of bluetack or similar on it, though.
 
In other words, you can use any cable you like that has a standard
3.5 mini plug going into the headphones.  Big credit to Sony on that one;
wish more manufacturers would do the same.

Ahh ok I thought you were actually using one that had a collar like the original.
