Modding Monoprice 8323 (With Pictures)
Sorry to revive this ancient thread. With these mods you're into this for $60-$70. How do these compare to other headphones in that price range? Thanks.- mektarus

soo... i picked up a pair of ksc75's....
If you add resistance to the KSC75 it smooths out and sounds even better. I have a 75 ohm adapter cable that I use with all of my Koss 60 ohm phones (KSC75, KSC50, KSC35, UR40, A250, Sportapro, Portspro)- mektarus

Need a headphone for ~$100
If you can find a used pair of Beyer DT831's you should be able to get them for well under $100. Although no longer in production, they are one of the best sounding closed cans you can buy.- mektarus

best budget phones
Ok, I just noticed that the KSC55/BKH3 do, in fact, use the titanium version of the Koss 60ohm driver. This means that they should sound very similar to the KSC75. All you need to worry about is the fit.- mektarus

Review showdown: Beyerdynamic DT-531 v Goldring DR150
I have always been enamored with the DT531 but have not had the pleasure of hearing them. I do, however, have a pair of DT431's which I like alot. Have either of you ever heard the DT431 to be able to compare them to the DT531?- mektarus

PortaPro2 vs. PortaPro
I'm a huge fan of the whole Koss 60 ohm lineup. What I think sounds best is the KSC75 drivers on either the PP, PP2 or SP headband.- mektarus

BEST CLOSED CAN--is there a clear favorite?
First of all, a proper greeting...Welcome to Head-fi, sorry about your wallet! Now that we have that out of the way, you might also look at the Philips HP460. Those who have heard it say it is very comparable to the K81 and many seem to prefer it. It's also cheaper than the K81. As for...- mektarus

Velour vs. Leather for earpads..
I can only compare velour to pleather and in that comparison there is no contest, velour wins in a landslide. I have a feeling, however, that real leather would easily top them both.- mektarus
