Get the v6. My friend has a pair of 280s and I was comparing them with my v6s and the sony was just more enjoyable to listen to. Plus more comfortable. And lighter

If you can find a used pair of Beyer DT831's you should be able to get them for well under $100. Although no longer in production, they are one of the best sounding closed cans you can buy.

Nothing against anyone buying Sony cans and in particular the v6...

Do you recall if the 280's were broken in well, and did you get a chance to compare these with techno / trance? The reason I ask is there is quite an improvement in the HD280's after substantial break-in.

He used them mostly for mixing with electronic music he had them for at least a month and spends lots of time using them.
