I have a Marantz 2220 receiver that I use as my main home amp for speakers and headphones. I recently purchased a Technics 1300 turntable so I could listen to vinyl. Unfortunately, there is some terrible humming/noise in the left channel on the phono input that pretty much makes it unusable...

The Audio Technica ATH-A models are pretty comfy. I have a pair of ATH-A500s several hours with them on doesn't even phase me. The A900s would be even more amazing within the price range.

Oh god, I am so tempted to buy a pair of MS-1s now that Alessandro has them in stock. I am counting on you guys to persuade me to do it.

I have a Marantz 2220 right now. I absolutely love it for driving my speakers but I have given up on its headphone output because there is a significant amount of hiss even with the volume turned all the way down. This is probably just my receiver but you might want to ask to test it out before...

I have heard that the Altec Lansing im716s are pretty bright although I'm not sure how "pounding" they would be.

How does the soundstage of the xin supermicro iv compare to that of the headfive? I know this might be comparing apples to oranges but if the headfive blows the supermicro away I might be willing to shell out the extra bucks for that.

I would suggest that you avoid IEMs. I have a pair of super.fi 5 pros and I cannot even hear the phone that is 2 feet in front of my face even at low listening volumes.

In an update from before I seem to have pinpointed the source of my problems in the foo_uie_albumart version 0.2.4.1 which was just added on September 18. I would suggest to any new users wanted to update to avoid the current release of this and go with one of the archived versions.
