I'm a Grado man; I like my music in my face (bright and pounding). Which ones are for me?

I have heard that the Altec Lansing im716s are pretty bright although I'm not sure how "pounding" they would be.

Hmm...I think you're looking for Etys or--to a lesser extent--a UE-10.

If it HAS to be a Shure, I would check out the E4, but I really don't think that will do it.

I disagree (re Raif's post). The E500 is the closest to a Grado I have heard out of all the IEM I've owned or tried (Shure E4c, E5c, E500, Ety ER4P/S, Sensaphonics 2X-S, Westone UM2, UE super.fi 5 Pro, Sony MDR-EXQ1, plus dozens of sub $50 IEM).

Still, keep in mind that it doesn't sound exactly like a Grado. It kind of sounds like an unbalanced SR-225 to me. Still, it's got enough going for it, and I like it enough, I can recommend it as the IEM for a Grado fan.

Of course the holy grail, a PS-1 in a IEM, has yet to be found. Well maybe the Westone ES2?

Hmm...

The reason I say Shure is the avail. of them to me. I can get the E5c's for $250, if that tells you anything....

Not that cheap mate, you can get westone UM2 for the same price....

I think UM2/E5c has a hint of the grado flavour, that being the mids is forward and full bass
Highs can be lacking though, i don't know if it's the best choice for you
