Beyerdynamic DTX 501p cushion change - how?

Hi. I'm trying to change the cushions on my headphones but had no idea how. It seems the flap on the back of the cushion has to go inside the very thin channel on the headphone, but I have no idea how to get it in all the way around. I got these from eBay. Thanks!

    AKG K550 vs K545 - size only

I've been searching for sealed headphones to use at work that are as similar to my Alessandros as possible, and am quite happy with the AKG K550. Only problem is that they're huge on me. I need about half an inch padding under the headband to actually have it sit properly on my ears. It seems...

    Closed-back headphone recommendations please

Hi. For use at work, I need some new closed back headphones for running directly out of my Mac mini. I'm not terribly concerned about price. Audio quality is most important for me. I guess I'd consider myself on the low end of audiophile. I like very neutral sound with very crisp highs...

Beyerdynamic DTX 501P too big for my head

I have an admittedly small head, but was very surprised to find that the pair of Beyerdynamic DTX 501P that just arrived for me today are too big for my head, even at the smallest setting. Have others found this?  Very disappointing, since I was really excited to try these out.

    Are PX200 II's really closed?

I have the original PX200 that I use at work and no one can hear anything leaking.  I picked up the II's today and did the test asking my wife if she could hear anything coming out.  She could. Is it possible that I could get a proper seal with the originals but not the II's?   Thanks.

    Alessandro MS-1 problem

I've had my MS-1's for a couple of years and lately have noticed that there's a little static sometimes in the left channel. Has anyone had anything like this happen? If so, what were you able to do about it? Thanks.

NYC - Free yellow Sennheiser pads for Grados

I have the yellow Sennheiser pads that I cut out holes reasonably well for Grados that I don't need. I did it for my MS-1s but find the stock pads the nicest. I am in NYC and if anyone wants them, you can pick them up. I don't feel like mailing them. I work in Manhattan and live in Brooklyn.

    Senn HD490 headband pad question

I've seen a lot on gluing the Senn HD490 headband pad to the Grados. How thick is this pad? I just got my Alessandro MS-1's and want to try this. Not for comfort, but because the phones sit a little too low, even when adjusted to the smallest setting. This would give me some height. Thanks.

    Got my Alessandro MS-1s!

Initial impressions, literally less than 10 minutes of listening, but boy do these things sound nice. Will they benefit from burn-in? Also, maybe it's because I have a small head, but the cups don't tend to sit centered on my ears; slightly lower than center. Anyone think this could be a...

Which inexpensive closed phones sound open?

Here's the deal. I need good headphones for work that don't leak. The PX-100s leak, but I like the sound. Do the PX-200s not leak? Problem is that I'm used to phones like my Etymotic ER-4Ps and such that have nice neutral sound and sound very crisp. I tried the Senn HD-212 Pros but found them a...

What do you use at work?

So I want a decent pair of headphones for work to listen through my computer (via the speakers' headphone jack) or through my iPod. I don't feel like dealing with my Etymotics at work. I was thinking of the Sennheiser PX-100 since they sound really nice, but I'm just worried about them leaking...

Grado SR60 and Alessandro MS1 questions (NYC)

I need a nice pair of phones for home use, mostly connected to my computer for editing and listening to music. I have Etymotic ER-4Ps for portable use with my iPod. People really seem to like the two headphones mentioned in the subject. I would like to keep it under $100. Are the MS1s really $25...

How do you store your Etymotics when mobile?

I just got a new messenger bag which is a nice side pocket that fits my iPod. I live in NYC and have particular needs for mobility. As with most bags, there's a common issue. How do you store your Etymotic-type earphones when needing to quickly take them out? Thanks.

Good headphones for under hat and hood?

I use Ety ER-4P with my iPod, but in this horrible NYC winter, I wear my hat and sometimes a hood. The hat is okay with the Etys since I can roll it up enough so they don't meet. But I cannot wear a hood with the Etys. It just pushes them around too much. Any suggestions on something that might...

    New Ety ER-4P cored impressions

I've seen people asking about the new cord, so here are my impressions. I have the new cord on the ER-4Ps and also had the old ones. First thing I should mention is that the microphonics are not drastically improved. But that said, I would never go back. The new shorter, braided cord makes a...

    Ety foam tips too long?

I have been using the black Etymotic foam tips for a while now and find they seem to seal better and have a more even fit, since they expand to fit the ear canals. But the thing is that I find that the rubber tips just seem to sounds more open and detailed. I have been thinking a lot about this...

    Comply canal tips for Etymotics

I am thinking of checking out the Comply tips for my Ety ER-4's and wanted to know what size people are using. I am using the black Ety foam tips right now and they are pretty snug. In fact, I find that I get slightly too much pressure building up in my ear canal. Thanks. -Ken

    Ety foam vs. silicon tips

I have had the ER-4P's for a while now but decided to try the foam tips. I rolled them and stuck them into my ears just like the silicon ones and held them for a few seconds for the foam to expand. Here are some of my impressions, and I would love feedback to see if I am on or misperceiving...

Ety ER-4 custom moulds - for and against

So I now have the custom moulds. Besides the fact that I need to get them remade (no bass), I can now comment on them. I don't think these are something I can use on a regular basis. I use the ER-4Ps with my iPod while walking around NYC and in the subway. I keep the iPod in my inside jacket...

    Custom Ety earmould fitment help

I got custom earmoulds for my ER-4s, and am having some troubles putting them in and taking them out. Any tips to make it easier? I know they fit really well, but it's just the procedure for putting them in and taking them out that I'm having trouble with. The left one I think I got in, but the...

    custom earmoulds for Ety ER-4

I have the ER-4Ps and absolutely love them. The other day I changed the silicon ear tips to clean the old ones. Best album for testing audio equipment?

Anyone have any favorite material for testing out speakers and headphones? One I find really good for it is A Momentary Lapseof Reason from Pink Floyd. Very clean (digitally recorded) and a lot of stuff going on. -Ken
