I've read about some people being happy with the DT 990s. They may add a bit more punch/low end with a similar sound as the HD 595s. I'll try them myself sometime.

I hate my DT 880 for gaming. Maybe due to their large soundstage they don't work at all with the X-Fi's CMSS-3D. In addition, they are a little bass shy, if you want some oomph in games. I'd rather recommend HD 595 or DT 770 for gaming. My 595s work perfectly with CMSS-3D.

HF-1 are my definite main headphones since I'm mostly listening to metal. However, I enjoy my DT 880s for Opeth, Porcupine Tree and such.

I think for the majority of people, 128 kb/s VBR is more than sufficient, also given the headphones (let alone stereos), most people use. Just think about yourself snapping photos with $200-300 cams. Every DSLR enthusiast will throw his hands up in horror, when he thinks about the low quality...

You might consider the Alessandro MS-1. $99 shipped to your door. Sound very good with accoustic stuff like Eric Clapton. Classical should work too, to some degree.

If I were you, I'd try the SR-225 with Todd's flats. For the HF-1, flats are no good, but they perfectlyfit the SR-225.

"Glue" seems to be the magic word with Grados.

I'm also considering headphones for office use with a Cowon Iaudio X5. Would you think, Alessandro MS-1s would be a definitve upgrade to KSC75s?
