Hi aLL, I know there are tons of information about this topic but I currently own senn. CX 300 and I am not quite happy with them. Most of my music archive involves rock and some electronic stuff so I am looking for a good high and low frequency capable headphones possibly PX 200 or something similiar maybe AKG K101 and my price range is around $100. Any kind of input is appreaciated... Thanx...

I have the CX 300s as well. Bought a pair of KSC 75s for 20 bux and havent looked back. Still falls in the portable category. If portability is not a concern then the Alessandro MS1 would fit the bill nicely for the price. Perhaps using a sponsor like Head-Fi to test drive some different house sounds. They dont care Alessandro but do carry Grados. Another great can in that price is the HD 485 from Senn. Good detail and range with bass. They are also easy to drive from a portable source but kinda big for portable. Built like tanks though. I loved the HD 485 for trance.

Edit: you could score either a SR60/HD 485 and KSC 75s with your budget or a MisterX buffered Cmoy, AudioLineOut cable and KSC 75.

I can only mention things I've tried for extended period:

my iPod Nano + a PA2v2 portable amp + any of the following:

KSC-75 - can be had for around $20, and is tops in "bang for buck" category
E4c - can be had for around $200. May be out of your price range, but sounds great with the iPod+PA2v2 combo.
DT 770 Pro/80 - can be had for around $150-$200 USD. Definitely not portable, but sounds darn good.

My favorite is the E4c combo. Please note that I have a good interconnect from Moon Audio (Black Dragon), so I hope to have eliminated the interconnect as being my weak link.

I hope it's okay for me to suggest IEM's...

Well, just a little while ago, the iM716 was discussed about a lot. It was very well liked, especially with its $70 price tag at Amazon. Its MSRP is $200. Amazon just upped the price to $70. Many people here own and very much like their iM716, and think that it was worth every penny. I'm pretty sure this is the KSC75 of IEM's (price to quality ratio)!

If you want to see my first impressions of it, then visit the link in my sig.

I highly recommend them.

I'm sure a lot of people here would back me up on this recommendation. Hell, they even match the iPod's color scheme (if your iPod is white)!

I have owned the pX100 but not the 200/250. I sold my PX100. THe quality of construction and portablility are top notch. However, I prefer the KSC 75 to the PX 100 soundwise. And to me the KSC 75 responds better to system upgrades, ie source/amping. It is quite amazing what this little buggers will do for 20 bux. The HD 485 are very smooth almost dark in tone. Its syrupy. It works well with trance and electronic. It sounds pretty good with rock as well, but I prefer a more forward approach with rock. I really like the KSC 75 with rock. Here's my suggestion, go snag from KSC 75s and give them a listen. They will only set you back 20 dollars and can be resold here if you dont like them.

daashford0404 basically hits the nail on the head. The KSC75's are really popular here, and are considered to have the best price-to-quality ratio.

Once you have the KSC75, you'll be surprised at how easily they compete with the PX models. You really can't lose by having a KSC75 around.

i like my ksc75 also.

great soundstage for the size + price...
but, no isolation!

so listening to vocal, classical, soft music etc in noisy enviornments dosn't work.
big difference to earbuds or in ears!!!

that's why you need some CX300 or K81dj. Or you could just be like everyone else in Berlin and get the Philips HP460. (is it just me, I see them everywhere)

I'm also considering headphones for office use with a Cowon Iaudio X5. Would you think, Alessandro MS-1s would be a definitve upgrade to KSC75s?

I throw in another for 75s. I use them right out of my nano, dont get much of a added sound with the Pa2v2 on them. I dont think there has been a better choice for me. If you want IEMs then UM1s sound decent with an amp, but 75s still kill IMHO.
