How to get the Grado HF-1 Sound ?

If I were you, I'd try the SR-225 with Todd's flats. For the HF-1, flats are no good, but they perfectlyfit the SR-225.

I second the 225s with flats. As for a tube amp, I would go with a millet or a X-Can. I have both of the Grados and a millet. I have tried my 225s with the X-can and they pair very well. The X-can and 225s are very close to my Hf-1s and Microamp.

Thanks, Ed.

The Dared would be a really poor choice for Grados. It is designed as an integrated amp and the headphone amp is an afterthought. It's designed for much higher impedence/inefficient headphones than Grados. Try a Woo Audio, Little Dot, MAD offering, or used PPX3.

Well, I think you pretty much get the idea at this point. Have you actually heard the HF-1? There are many options here that will give you an even more enjoyable listening experience.

Enjoy your new HF-1. You will love it. I recently got my Maple HHF-1 and it's a fun can for sure

The SR-225 (worse) or RS-2 (better) is the way to go, but the HF-1s were a special can that was unlike all other Grados.
