I am not talking PX100's here, I want to push the limits a little on whats socially acceptable so I can get better sound.

I need bigger cans, but not as big as HD-580's, that I can take walking. Besides the 580's probably leak too much sound, so I'd imagine I'm looking for a closed or semi-closed can. I used SR-80 for a while but I think I am tired of that sound for now. Right now I have a Cmoy and a Mint that I could use to drive these with. For some reason I am tempted by ATH or AKG models to add to my collection.

K81 dj. They stay still and block out a fair amount of sound. Perfect.

I only have one pair of headphones: K701.

You can guess what happens when I take my dog out for a walk

The largest I would take out publicly is my SR225, which stand out a bit on my short hair. My friend, who has long hair, can wear much larger headphones outside and not look dorky. SRxxx, HD202 headphones blend right into his head unoticable.

People will exclaim 'OMG! The greater iBuds!'

Hmm, the HD25-1 is a good choice. It isolates more than the semi-canals and sounds good (IMO, it carries a sonic signature shockingly similar to my E4G, minus the liquid midrange).

Here's another vote for the HD 25-1, they really sound great out of the iPod 5G headphone out. A bit hot for summer wear though.

Grado SR80, simply because they are the only "larger" portable headphones I have.

From my rather limited knowledge, they are the same thing. I'd like someone to confirm that though! If you're in the market for a pair, just make sure you don't mix them up with the HD25SP which is supposedly far inferior to the HD25. (and priced accordingly cheaper.)

I wear DT770-80s nearly every day in NYC.
