Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

If you get rid of manuals for tube-based products, you may have to build protective cages/enclosures around them to cover yourself for liability. Some idiot somewhere will burn his finger and argue that Schiit didn't tell him not to touch the glowing tubes. Or just simply put "Do Not Touch Hot...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

It is a very phallic amp lol. Dr. Freud would have a field day with that.

With tubes and a class D selector switch lol.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

At least you guys get to use your smokers all year round. In my part of Canada, we have snow and below zero celsius for at least 5 months, so it is usually a no go for me. I know some people here BBQ in their garages, but somehow I feel running a charcoal smoker in a garage would be a really bad...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Mmmmm....brisket. Are you still using your Cookshack Amerique as your smoker? I recently got into that crazy hobby but went the completely opposite way - a charcoal Weber Smokey Mountain. Amazing taste but I still have not found a way of making a rack of ribs without all my clothes smelling like...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I am guessing that the Other Thing has to be a lower priced, higher volume product considering the state of economy in most countries. After the mad rush of spending gratuitously that marked the first couple of years of the pandemic, the harsh reality is kicking in for most of us. While I would...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I got it! It’s an anti autotune device. It detects and automatically reverts any autotuned vocal back to its original state.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

As a Canadian, I also prefer buying North American made/assembled gear but for very different reasons - for me, it is all about the quality of customer service should there be any issues with a product during the warranty period. Most of this advantage is a consequence of the physical proximity...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I’m still thinking it’s a D/S DAC with Schiit’s own custom chip and a version of MultiComboBurrito filter. However, considering the projected price and the fact that people may get annoyed by it, it could have some features that kind of cannibalize some of Schiit’s current products. Perhaps...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

As an aside, I’d love it if they brought back a low power, discrete pure class A headphone amplifier. Like the original Asgard resurrected, but even more pared down. No gain switch, only one input, no preamp outs. Edit: D-oh. The original Asgard only had one gain setting and one set of rca...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Well, there’s always that 440Hz sacred cow. I’d be surprised if 432Hz is what this is all about. It’s a pretty fringe, borderline conspiratorial kind of thing.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The Syn has got to be a reference to something sacrilegious that we never thought was going to happen - SuperMegaComboBurrito filter in a Delta-Sigma DAC. I may be interested in picking up one.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

It would be great if @Jason Stoddard could update us on the current status of affairs when it comes to the Lyr+ failure rate. I know that he commented on it over two months ago saying that the failure rate was no more than usual. However, in light of these further repeated failures, it would be...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I also feel a profound sense of sadness to read these things as a veteran schiit-head. I bought over 20 of their products from 2015-2021 and I live in Canada which involved paying all kinds of extra charges to get these products here. I loved most of their products that I have owned and...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I used to own the Lyr 3 on 2 separate occasions. Both units were rock-solid, except one of them had a really twitchy DC-sensing circuitry that would shut down and restart the amp with certain loud explosions or extremely bass-heavy tracks.

That really sucks. You are basically acting as a beta tester for them. They should pay you for your time. It’s getting to be unreasonable at this point.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Having owned four different revision of the Bifrost, I can say that it is all about the proprietary (Super) MegaComboBurrito Filter used in these devices. For me, the most apparent difference was in how transients are reproduced when comparing it to a level-matched Delta Sigma DAC (Steinberg...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Shame that none of the “trained listeners” from the ASR crowd were at the blind test. It’s been a while since we’ve had some good objectivists vs subjectivists drama. ;)

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Jason, it’s really not my style to publicly praise people and companies, but I have to make an exception in this case. Your messaging as a company has been extremely consistent and reality-based since I ordered my first Schiit product in 2015. It was the original Vali and even before I...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I think that some consumers have a problem with Schiit's approach because you guys simply refuse to fit into a very specific box when it comes to extolling the virtues of your (new) products compared to most other manufacturers. In other words, you do not provide a comfortable reassurance to...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

A very quick question. Is the output voltage of this ESS module full 2V in SE and 4V in balanced out mode?

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I would be ok with a choice between a black/silver powder-coated finish vs paying a small upcharge for a premium brushed aluminum product. I think it would be reasonable to offer this premium finish for medium/large size products only and make it $25-$50 extra based on the size of the chassis...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have the Jot 2 now. Before I got it, and after I sold the Asgard 3 I used the EL AMP II which I still use with my HD600 as it sounds amazing with it for some reason. I think the Jot 2 is fantastic as well. I have only used it extensively employing its XLR output which sounds different than...
