which grado full size headphones has best bass

Ps500e has the best bass and smoothest treble.

    Grado e Series

Selling both ATM on the for sale thread. Both have their merits but I am sticking with the PS500e as my sole Grado. The treble is a little tamer and doesn't affect my ears as much.

    Grado e Series

I have both. They are very similar in frequency response. The rs2e has mor perceived bass because it has more recessed mids and more highs as a result. Classic u curve. The sr325e is more balanced with more upfront mids. The rs2e is a little smoother overall but the treble will play havoc with...

    Grado e Series

Anyone out there want to weigh in on the merits of the GS1000e - getting close to grabbing a pair but wanted to see if anyone has any opinion vs rs2e that I already own.

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

This is my exact dilemma ATM. Had a listen to the PM3 and H6 today - liked both!! Comfort of the H6 may win out in the end but its so damn close its a difficult choice. Someone who has heard both for a longer period may be able to give a better insight but I liked both and really cant choose...

OPPO To Reveal PM-3 Planar Magnetic Headphones and HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier at RMAF

This is in no way a fair comparison but I noticed you have the obligatory ATH M50 in your inventory. How do describe the upgrade? Just looking for a frame of reference. Cheers

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Really interested in these. I'm wondering where they stand in relation to the similar priced open phone like the HD600/650?

    Grado e Series

I may be one of the few people on head fi who actually likes the RS1e and feel it is an improvement over the RS1i. I find it curious that a lot of people are commenting n hearsay and have not spent a reasonable amount of time with the RS1e. I found the sound did open up after about 50hrs and the...

    Grado e Series

The ps500e should fit the bill but the rs1e isn't as big a disappointment as this thread would have you believe. I really enjoy my pair just as much as my ps500e and if you have the desire to hear full upfront vocal with no sibilance and a nice smooth warm mid bass hump then the rs1e will suit you.

    Grado e Series

Theres been a lot of mixed reaction to the RS1e but after living with it for a few weeks now I must say I am a bit of a fan. I think it was time for Grado to make a slightly different sound signature for the upper models to differentiate them from the lower ones. Hasn't the criticism of Grado...

    Grado e Series

I recently gave into temptation and bought a rs1e, I've only had them for a few days but I think they have ample treble and are very smooth sounding overall. The trick with these, as opposed to the previous model, is that they seem to be tuned to be used with more neutral sources in mind, maybe...

    Grado e Series

I did this exact comparison a few days back at my local Grado dealer. I own the PS500e and wanted to hear the RS1e so I A/B'd them for a time out of a RA1 headphone amp. I agree with the view that in an A/B situation the RS1e come off a little underwhelming vs the PS500e as far as sharpness and...

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

Going from memory, it's been a couple of weeks since I heard them now. The isolation was pretty good and the mids weren't as recessed as other ultrasones I have heard. Definitely more forward then the sig DJ. Not as full as the Sig pro.

If you like the DT250 sound sig  - give the Allesandro MS2 or Grado PS500 a try.

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

The Performance 880's have a very even and balanced signature - great bass when it is called for, balanced mids and highs - actually the 860 and 880 are 2 of the most balanced ultrasones I have heard. The 880 is much along the lines of the pro2900 and sig pro being quite balanced with a slight...

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

The 880s were a lot more balanced than the pro900 more along the lines of the pro2900 or sig pro but with less detailed mides. The highs had that slight metallic edge like all the titanium driver models but they were fresh out of the box so I suspect they would calm down a little after they...

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

There is no doubt that the Signature series is more upmarket - it is more solidly built and uses more premium materials but the comfort of the Performance series is very good and they are lighter and more spacious than the Signatures or the HFI series for that matter. For those who definitely...

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

A bit sharper but no more strident. Still in balance with the mids. I think it would probably calm down a little as they burnt in a little as they were literally just out of the box. The major differnece between them and the sig pro was the depth to the mids. The sig pro had much more micro...

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

Ok, just reporting in this thread as I may be one of the first people to have auditioned all three of the new performance series headphones. I dropped into my favourite headphone store here in Melbourne on the off chance that they had received their stock of these and to my surprise they had...

    Sony MDR-7520

Been A/Bing these with some Grado ps500e's and ultrasone pro2900's - 2 cans that are renowned for their detail and the 7420's are right up there with them as far as detail retrieval goes - remarkable since they are closed phones that retail for near on half the price of the other 2 in the test...

    Grado e Series

Would you still call the PS500's bass having quality and impactful? Is it a case of mid-bass running into the mids or something unrelated to bass is causing you not to like them with female vocals? I like female vocal presentation with the 225e. The bass of the original ps500 was mid bass heavy...

    Grado e Series

Just chiming in on the new ps500e. All I have to say is this, if you're on the fence as to whether you should jump in or not - just do it, these are phenomenal! I'm curious as to how the e series driver marries up to the rest of the series but the balance, timbre, speed and overall naturalness...

TOPPING NX1 Portable Headphone Amplifier Impressions Thread

Mini Review for Topping NX10 My testing method was the ipod classic 160gb output vs the Topping amp as I thought this would make a fairer fight than comparing it with my Benchmark desktop system. It also should highlight whether this sort of amp is even needed as in y opinion it is purely for...

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

Pro2900 is very good. A lot more even sound signature than the Pro900 which has very scooped mids. I actually preferred the Pro2900 to both the HD600 and HD650. You just need to let yourself adjust to the S logic way of presenting things - once you do there is no going back. I now have the...
