Rockbox Xduoo X3
I know it's a strange request, but does anyone have an intact archive copy of the original "back to stock" update (not the new one). I sometimes need to reset my X3 with it when it acts funny (and then re-flash RockBox), and the new version doesn't seem to play nice on my X3. I did have a copy...- MandoBear

XVortex - you're a genius. Is there any chance you might be able to include a change-log on your website, so that people can keep up with the changes you make at each update? Many thanks.- MandoBear

Rockbox Xduoo X3
I'm finding the same thing on the 170403 software - if anything the battery curves are worse than they used to be. Very slow movement of the battery gauge for a few hours, then it gets to about an indicated 40% (approximately) and the battery drops off a cliff and shuts down after a further 20...- MandoBear

XVortex - your work on Rockbox for the X3 is turning it into THE definitive and go-to budget DAP of choice. Just when I think it can't get any better... you make it better! Many thanks.- MandoBear

I updated to the latest 160821 version the other day. I discovered that my Windows 10 PC can now recognise the contents of the microSD 1 card when the X3 is in Rockbox mode. Interesting...- MandoBear

Charge it right up and then see what happens. Sometimes the battery gauge on any device powered by Li-ion batteries needs a reset by being given a full charge.- MandoBear

No, they're small surface mount devices, each with eight little pins requiring de-soldering and then soldering new ones (avoiding overheating the device, or bridging the tracks on the PCB) and always assuming you've got the right spec replacement devices... you'd need a decent soldering iron...- MandoBear

Plug and play? You must be joking - a very high level of skill and knowing what you're doing is required. Not to be undertaken lightly.- MandoBear

I think a Bluetooth receiver won't work - what you would need is a Bluetooth transmitter. To be honest, Bluetooth isn't exactly known for its audiophile qualities. You'd probably do just as well putting the music on your phone and putting that on Bluetooth to couple with your car - the quality...- MandoBear

Hi, thanks for the positive feedback. No, the X3 doesn't have Bluetooth. It does have a line out output, which would work if (and only if) your car sound system has a line in input facility - some do and some don't. You would need to check. There's sometimes an input socket on the head unit.- MandoBear

So, just to clarify, you're asking for XVortex or someone else to devote valuable time to develop a version of the boot loader specifically for those few who want to install RockBox on their X3s and then not actually use it? I think you may be waiting for quite a while.- MandoBear

Headphones will probably sound rubbish driven from the line out. Reason - line out is designed to drive an amplifier input with an impedance of about 50k ohms, not a headphone of about 16 - 600 ohms, so you don't get the necessary damping factor and the frequency response will probably be off.- MandoBear

I see that XVortex has posted up a revised version of ROCKbox for the X3 - rockbox-update-37373fd-160418.zip I'm not sure what the change log for this is. @XVortex Is it possible to include a change log on your site, so that people can see what things have been fixed with each new version? ...- MandoBear

Just press "reset". USB issues are a known area for further improvement in the current RockBox port. Sometimes the X3 also hangs with certain memory cards it doesn't get on with. And yes, the X3 can get a little warm when charging - not a problem, unless it gets HOT.- MandoBear

I think you'll find that that version was a pre-production prototype. The only current versions I know of are black, silver, and (sometimes) pale gold.- MandoBear

In my experience, the supplied screen protectors are OK - you just have to attach them back to front, and peel off the "second" film (marked 2, IIRC) first and attach that to the player's screen, and then peel off the "first" film.- MandoBear

I'll have to try the 6N30P. The cool thing about the 6N27P is that it's specifically designed to work with a low anode voltage (such as found in the Starlight) so it's working under optimal conditions. Right... ...and now back to the X3...- MandoBear

Sweet rig - I have a Starlight too with a Russian Reflektor 6N27P tube in. Sounds great. That photo looks worryingly like you have your X3 pugged into the headphone out of your amp?- MandoBear
