The cable is constructed as fully balanced. The 3.5mm trs jack is single ended in its internal wiring while the various balanced jacks maintain a balanced signal from jack to iem.

While I love my dk-4001 I would certainly be interested in a trade up program.

It's a five ba iem with no dynamic driver so no, no driver flex.

It took me six or seven times of inserting them to get the hang of it but after I figured it out they are super comfy and easy to fit. I usually use a size medium spiral dot on my iems but found that a medium small spiral dot worked better with the fitment of the ex1000.

I have only had them for a week so I am still in the honeymoon phase but they are crazy good, and not just for the price.

I ordered the DM6 from Penon and it took exactly one week to get to me in Ohio.

I completely agree, I usually use spiral dots m but the ex1000 has a slightly longer and narrower sound tube so a deeper fit with spiral dots ms was best with these for me. They sound fantastic and do not lack bass with the deeper fit.

Looks like normal wear and tear. You were probably rubbing it when you plugged and unplugged your cable. I don't know of anything that is permanent on shrink wrap. If it isn't meant to aid in the strain relief you could just remove it completely.

I had noticed the Penon Draco a while ago when I was looking at their Leo cable. I contacted Penon with a few questions and they were very responsive and helpful. While the Draco does look interesting and I would love to hear it, it looks quite heavy with all of that wire and jade.
