WA22 let's roll some tubes (Done Mod, Burnning-in)
Should I try a Sophia 274B mesh for a different sound than the Brimar or go for another Mullard? Can't get over the pics of those meshes in the dark.- JackDiesel

WA22 let's roll some tubes (Done Mod, Burnning-in)
Just got my WA22 and the first rectifier I threw in there was a Mullard GZ32, listened to a couple songs and then the WA22 shuts off and won't turn back on. Blew a fuse. After getting new fuses, put in stock tubes to troubleshoot and sure enough I have a bad Mullard. I doubt the eBay seller will...- JackDiesel

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
I was wondering the same thing when I read that. Even though I own a pair of Paradigm Studio 100's the necessary equipment needed and room treatments are just too costly for 2 channel audio. Good luck finding reasonablely priced tube amps to drive towers not to mention things like room...- JackDiesel

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
My level 1 was delivered over a week ago and I ordered during their black Friday deal. Just haven't been home since. After I ordered it I kind of wish I would have spent the extra on the level 3. Technically it was more than I wanted to spend on a DAC but I usually don't regret spending too much...- JackDiesel

Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
Yeah good point about it being incompatible with the docks. I didn't considered that. Fiio has built an impressive ecosystem that gives it an edge over its competitors and the engineering on this DAP is impressive.- JackDiesel

Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
I've been using USB-C for over a year and haven't had a single problem. A Google engineer has done the research on the good/bad cables and the information is readily available. I'd assume if you're on a forum like this then you're smarter than the average consumer that buys cables at a gas...- JackDiesel

Simple fix, don't buy poorly made cables. All Android phones are switching to USB-C, USB-C is the future and a much better design than micro USB. If you are really worried about your cheap cables buy a micro USB to USB-C adapter and use your old cables.- JackDiesel

DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***
And any engineer worth their salt would have known that going in and not made that promise a year ago. Even if you don't want it to be called a promise, the decision was made a while ago to drop to 1 uSD. They could have told us then and people could have made other plans. Within a couple hours...- JackDiesel

Then go with a SD card slot. Or at least give it 128/256GB internally. We're talking about what is supposed to be a TOTL DAP. Why compromise it from the start?- JackDiesel

For a TOTL DAP you shouldn't need a workaround like that. Hence the disappointment from many.- JackDiesel

SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A
I think my DAP search has come down to the 1A or the AK240 as well. On top of everything else they both have a nice dock. iBasso DX200 was in the running until I read they are throwing the USB port on top.- JackDiesel

Those phones involve little to no R&D and have a free OS with no modification. Also probably come with a backdoor too. Considering the list of features and DAC used compared to competitors the iBasso is priced competitively (assuming $1k). Sadly the USB port is on top so I'll be skipping this...- JackDiesel

I'll pay $1k for a DAP that has everything I need, good SQ and a good design. The DX200 was looking like it'd be that DAP until I was going through old posts and read the USB connection was on top. I'm going to wait for the final design, maybe they implemented it well but if not then I'll move...- JackDiesel

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
The last several pages reads like a horror story. I'm interested in a new desktop DAC and the used prices on these are appealing but I'm wondering if the majority of people are having firmware issues or if this DAC can run reliably while connected to a Win10 PC or DAP.- JackDiesel

My old Sony DAP played the line out from Sony's version of the USB port so you probably won't see a standard line out port. Thanks in advance, enjoy your vacation!- JackDiesel

SONY NW-ZX2
Does the dock output an analog signal that skips the amplifier in the Zx2? I'm looking to output the signal to a desktop amp and save myself from having to buy a desktop DAC, just let the DAP do the work. I like the AK and the dock for it but the fact that it can't do a true line out is a...- JackDiesel

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-3
Has anyone heard the iFi Pro iCAN amp? I bought the LCD-3 as part of a combo deal with that amp. The current plan is to sell the iFi amp and use it to fund a WA6SE, WA22 (used), or some Schitt but if it's a good amp then I'll keep it. Trying to keep it new in box, so I can sell it for more than...- JackDiesel

I fully support this. I'd like to be able to plug it into a base, skip the onboard amp and use a desktop amp for home listening. Then unplug it and take it with me on the go and plug my K10's into it for my portable setup.- JackDiesel
