Has anyone been using the Centro control app? How is it? I'm asking because I've been testing out The Home Remote (a similar idea to the now-defunct irule). Its an excellent way to build your own remote interface, and crucially (for me at least) works on Android. It has a horribly steep...- teacher1000

3D Sound Shop - Custom PRIRs for the Smyth Realiser A16
This is definitely something I'm interested in. What a fantastic resource for A16 owners Can I second the suggestion of @Camano? The precision of the front speaker positions was, for me, the most difficult aspect to get right in a PRIR, and hardest to evaluate when listening to the samples...- teacher1000

I stayed with 1.81 as well. My A16 is not perfect - I have to reinstall the firmware every 6 weeks or so, when it gets stuck on the splash screen, but I'm not risking it getting worse- teacher1000

That was me. I noticed it getting less responsive over a few days, until it froze completely, and required reinstalling the firmware. I've had it happen twice, and I have no idea if anything in particular triggered the behaviour. Losing the preset settings has happened many times, and I think...- teacher1000

That sounds like quite the PC. The Netflix windows app certainly supports atmos, but I think the bottleneck is the HDMI output. My older PC only goes up to 7.1 audio, and since I have the shield TV that's where my research stopped. Sorry I can't help any more than that.- teacher1000

I wonder if everyone has realised they also need an Atmos capable device , with an Atmos enabled version of the Netflix app, as well as paying for the highest tier? Xbox, Shield TV, AppleTV I think are capable, but I seem to recall that the Netflix app on Roku actually isn't atmos enabled, even...- teacher1000

Yes I remember you posting this now. I have also had the 'sluggish behaviour' issue, which required reinstalling the firmware (twice), and frequently get the white screen on startup. I wonder if they are related? Do you get these issues as well?- teacher1000

Has anyone else had a problem where the preset information (user A listening room and HPEQ) keeps reverting to some other choices? I just cant get my choices to 'stick' for more than a few days. I cant tell if the choices change when I make some other change somewhere else Or have I missed some...- teacher1000

The latest Nvidia Shield TV plays sends atmos via hdmi for Tidal and Netflix (not tried Amazon prime), and is easy to setup. However, the Tidal app interface and search is awful on the Shield, and the selection of atmos music is barely worth the effort.- teacher1000

Like you, I am reluctant to move my (not at all heavy) speakers around - I did it once and it was far too much effort. To my surprise, however, I have since discovered that the rears and sides sound perfectly convincing just by swiveling around and measuring 'backwards'. The room acoustics just...- teacher1000

I've had my A16 for a couple of months now, and I have to say this is an amazing machine, even if it is awkward as hell to set up and use. I still haven't got a perfect capture of my own speakers, but good enough. Living in an apartment where I could never turn up the volume.. well now I can. In...- teacher1000

I have finally, today, made a PRIR of my own setup that I'm happy with It was a battle, as I have 3x Totem Hawks at the front, with just some cheap surrounds, so I was shifting speakers around, all the while trying to keep the microphones in place, to get the full effect My goodness, I thought...- teacher1000

@Evshrug @sander99 Shifting speakers, so entirely possible that the mics moved - I just couldn't resist being ambitious! Nevertheless, I'm still wondering which look angle I should look at first, if there are multiple- teacher1000

Well I've finally had a chance to try my A16 out - I've got to say I've had only limited success getting a decent PRIR so far from my own system 1. Damn those wires! Constantly snagging in my awkward little room, but that's just part of the game 2. Has anyone successfully used 'multiple look...- teacher1000

Yes! And the beauty is that with the Realiser you'll be able to scale up that experience (as @phoenixdogfan and @jazzfan were saying earlier) I have 3 Totem Hawks as front speakers but just a cheap pair of MA bronze for surrounds. I can't wait to finally hear a virtual full surround setup of hawks- teacher1000

Mine does NOT have the PRIRs my wife and I had done at London CanJam two years running. As someone who wants Smyth Research to survive as a company I'm fine with them collecting some much needed cash, even though it means I have to wait even longer for my unit. I'm happy for you! I am actually looking forward to you getting your A16 as you have been one of the most articulate users, even going back to the old A8 thread.
