How does this DAC fight jitter? Does it have its own clock? Or asynchronous reclocking? Or another mechanism?

what about EMU 0404 PCI, good dac, nice sound... or cheaper Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 or HD2 gold (maybe this one only in Korea)

rip CD with EAC to .waw and then convert to some lossless format like .flac or .ape, if u want u can do it also in EAC with some external converter or some plug-in. EAC is good also in reading "bad" CDs and in correcting. It saves good music for me

and what soundcard do u have? for example, headphones mod on my old SB audigy Se is terrible, soundstage is weird and also sound is much less natural, i vote for 2.0 speakers

I was choosing between AKG K601 and HD595, i took the HD595 cause of better price, they do not need amp immediately (but many ppl convinced me that low-impedance cans need amp just like the high-impedance, so i am buying one with current buffer soon, which should fit HD595),i listen to classics...

hm i tried that ASIO 51 with foobar 0.8.3 but it doesnt work for me, a core error occures, that the ASIO 51.dll cant be loaded... but now i am using KS with SRC on 96Khz/24bit, dunno if its better, but that feeling is normal that with normal ASIO in foobar 0.9.x i cant upsample files, but...

does it have sense do upsample something by soundcard? (i tried in foobar to upsample to 96Khz but i didnt hear any difference)

ok, this is maybe lame question but: if i buy an amp (lets say with high quality opamps like OP627 or so) and connect it to my 0404PCI analog outputs. Is there going to be an improve in SQ? Or once the signal get through opamps with lower quality, which are on the card, then is useless to...

i was listeting HD595 on SB audigy, and after i bought 0404PCI there is an addition in sub bass,when i connected them to cdp there was an addition of sub bass, so i think u should try to change to source, but try some other source before.

if this is your budget, i will also buy an amp, but dunno how this X-fi sounds..., i have 0404 PCI and the improvement over SB audigy is quite significant i have HD595 which are 50 Ohm only, and sometimes there is not enough power, so it wont be enough for HD580 i think. i wanted to buy 0404 usb, but many ppl told me that i need a high-current amp, or some buffer(for diy buf634). I cannot tell u technicaly why, but my friend explained it to me. So i would rather take soundcard + standalone amp(like i am going to do)

HD595 are very comfortable for me, but i dont think its good to have them at work, but it also depends on kind of work
