The 780i are now modded, like TrollDragon's, to take aftermarket cables. Am currently running the Ultrasones with a Forza AudioWorks Claire HPC Mk.2 and all I can say is "Wow!", truly top-tier performance!
I love the 780 - think they are Ultrasone's best budget pair of the many I've owned.

@TrollDragon

Here you go:

Not nearly as clean a job as yours [by a long shot(!)] . . . But maybe next time [with the AKG K501] . . . :blush:

Looks great to me and it makes them so portable. I can plug in a 1.5m cable and it's go time.

Hey!
Does anyone have some good EQ settings for the 780i PRO?
Nothing on Oratory 1990.
AutoEQ only has settings for the HFI-780--not sure how similar the 780i PRO is(?).
Thankee!
From what ive experienced on ultrasone, they always have a 6khz peak so i would EQing down there, the rest of the frequencies are fine for me.

I'm sure it's here somewhere, but will someone please direct me to a PRO 780i versus HFI-780 comparison thread/post(s)?
Ultrasone, I read elsewhere, claimed that the two were sonically equivalent. If that is the case, then I will try the AutoEQ settings [for the HFI-780].

I never did find any comparisons myself. Anecdotally I don't think they are the same sound though, as there is a bass improving mod for the HFI that has the opposite effect for the Pro.

Thank you.
From what little I have gleaned, the HFI-780 have a punchier and more "fun" bass response, elevated [borderline edgy] treble and more recessed midrange; the PRO 780i are comparatively more evenly balanced and less "v" shaped.

That's what I've read as well. I've seen lots of mentions of HFI 780 being a fun V shape, and my Pro 780 is much closer to neutral than anything. While I don't use the Pro 780's as often as I should, I'm always amazed at how good they are when I do use them. Very high quality sound at a relatively low price.
