I listen to my HFI-780's with my iBasso D6 with Ron's TopKit.

I listen to Rock/Industrial, and some Jazz and Classical here an there.

HFI-780 as the bassiest Ultrasones? Far from it.

Ultrasone's bassiest set is the Pro 900, by far.

As you can see from my post, I listed PRO900 first then HFI-780.  Different bass indeed between the two.  The 900s have fuller, deeeeeeper bass, whereas the 780s is tight and hard-hitting indeed.

IMO, Ultrasones have great bass, just different textures to them. And of course some are deeper than others.

EDIT:  To add- I believe Leander owns both PRO900s & 2900s, so the 2900s may well in fact have the same depth as the 900s....Since I don't own the 2900s I can't confirm or deny.

Ah, I see :) Well, considering that the HFI-580 can have more bass impact than the HFI-780, a better comparison could be HFI-780 and Pro 750, perhaps. Also, the way you describe Pro 900 bass sounds like they're not impactful, which they are quite a bit

Well, if we were ordering them bass wise, I might go with something like Pro 900 - Ed. 9 - Pro 750/HFI-580/DJ1 - HFI-780 - DJ1 Pro - HFI-680

That's what I'm talking about Roller.  A fan thread should be about interaction indeed....The 900s will crack your skull and laugh about it too....lol.....Great sound indeed...

Most balanced 'Sone across the spectrum (not including Eds)----HFI-680s.....

I have to admit I also have a certain curiosity over the HFI-680, and I'm yet not sure on how easy to drive it is.

Although the Pro 900 have their characteristic bass, I'm considering getting a Digizoid ZO to give them a healthy boost, but I'll have to wait for the second version that comes with a volume control, mainly because of the rather loud output of the original ZO. Basically, while sometimes the Pro 900 give enough bass, on other times I feel a strong urge for powerful quality bass, and going the hardware route would be healthier for me and my gear.

So PRO900 is the most bassy you say ? I'll get myself one when I have the money, my starving student budget is getting stretched waayyy too far right now saving up for an amp and a 1964 Q

At first, I was disappointed with the pro2900's bass. It was deep, but lacked impact and body. I'm currently at about 50 hours of burn-in and the bass has definitely changed a lot! It's impact is slightly less but almost equal to that of the pro900. The bass sounds cleaner, due to the open construction. Thus, it's less boomy and more textured, which is quite a feat, considering how quick and tight the pro900's bass is. The extension is probably equal, but due to the increased clarity, sub-bass is more prominent.
Dare I say the pro2900 have better bass?
