Was able to snag a pair at my local staples.  Pretty pleased with them on all fronts (sound, comfort, and build).  No question they are worth well more than $40.

Seriously.... no fanfare for the $40 MDR-ZX701IP nationwide at Staples? Is this not the deals thread??!!?? I went to my nearest staples and they had 4 left in the back when I asked for it by model name... guess how many I bought

. I believe $70 is the lowest I've seen the mdr-ZX700 go for online. Btw, this version has a really nice beefy L-Plug unlike the one pictured below

Snapped the MDR-ZX701IP up today! Went to one store, they didn't have one out there and the salesperson seemed really bleh, so drove 14 miles to another one, where they had no any on display either. I asked an employee if they had any in the backroom, and sure enough, they did. When he went to check it's price for me he was surprised at what a discount I was getting! :D Got them for $43 with tax.

So glad I got them. They're oddly very comfortable, which they didn't look like they would. Also, love the cord.

How is the sound? You can achieve the same isolation and probably comfort too by buying comply foam tips for your current pair of IEMs.

The sound is good IMO. Very clear and crisp with a slightly heavy low end. Very diverse freq response though, was surprised to hear some new things I haven't heard in some favorite tracks.

They also sell the tips which are much more comfortable than the  comply. In terms of sound distortion from the foam... I have no idea. They are definitely cheaper and more comfortable though than the comply tips I used to have.

World Wide Stereo is offering Klipsch Reference S4s for $49.99 on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Reference-S4-Premium-In-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphones-Black-/280954640740?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true

Something I am personally considering. Would anyone recommend them to replace my Monoprice 8320s?

I have both, the Klipsch Reference S4i and the Monoprice 8320. The Monoprice are way better, the Klipsch have midrange bass which I personally dislike a lot.

Can anyone comment on a comparison of deals: Brainwavz HM3 for $38.50 at MP3Nation, vs. Koss TBSE1 for $49.99 at Tuesday Morning, vs. Sony MDR-ZX701IP for $39.50 at Staples. What's your 1-2-3 rank here? Thanks for any comments!

Very different sound, with the Klipsch catering to those who like the inflated bass. They aren't bad, but they do have extra mid bass which some won't like. If you want to try a cheap bassy IEM though, try out the JVC HAFX101 or Philips SHE3580 which cost $15 and $10 respectively.

Did anyone try the AirBuds promotion code? Is it still working?

I'm not sure about that.....what I am sure about is.....I wrote them a question this morning about their tips, and got a email back within 15 minutes.
We are going back and forth and all I can say is....I hope we can do business, the customer service is exemplary so far!
