Yes, most off the stuff from taobao is fake. However that doesn't mean you cannot find any legitimately headphones or iems there. You just have to be really careful and/or lucky. Most manufacturers now are all based in China now and it's very common for lets say a manager or by knowing someone that works within the feild to offer you products at production prices. These people then sell them off at ridiculously low prices.

You can find some interesting things on taobao actually, there are sellers that are selling armatures in bulk. The er4 armature is very easily found for less than $50 a pair.

The official price of UE900 was 2999 yuan, which was 500 dollars. There was a authorized dealer called "Yixun", who had a price mistake changed the price from 2999 to 299. Many people bought it and Yixun did not cancel the orders. So basically, that was a accident, or say promotion, but not a normal price.
The normal price should be around 1500 yuan to 1900 yuan, depends on which sellers u buy from. Taobao has this price for sale for a long time and the price is keeping decrease. If u buy it from the sellers authorized as Tmall on Taobao, those sellers are more reliable than other sellers. And the price will be a little higher than average price either.
Again, although I have not tried UE900 before, but as many reviews say, this earphone is not as good as it should be. The quality is another concern either. If u wanna buy it from Taobao, u'd better be prepared to receive a pair of earphones which does not work in a few months.
Talking about the quality, UE, like many other product producers, sells the worst quality goods in China. I do not suggest u guys buy electric products in China. But if u buy products manufactured in China, quality is not a problem.

I was in my local Radio Shack today looking for M-80s.  They didn't have any.  The did have V-Moda Bass Freq Metals for Android on clearance for $9.99 (regular $49.99).  I-phone version was on sale for $19.99.  I got the one for Android.  Upon first listen, I think it sounds VERY good for $10.

FWIW, took my M-80's back; also recently got CALs and UE6000s and think both are better.  Picked up the Bass Freq Metals for $10.  Can always use a a set of inexpensive IEMs that sound good.  Very nice out of a Clip Zip...thanks for the post!

I agree. I think M-80 sound is extremely overrated. But it's construction is amazing.

Yeah, I really wanted to like them as my 'out and about' portable headphones.  They look and feel indestructible.

Guess I'll keep using my HA-S400s for the beat around set...probably makes more sense anyway.
