There are a lot of fake HD238 going around, so be careful.
Check this for authorized dealers: http://www.sennheiserusa.com/serviceandsupport_dealer-locator_authorized-retailers
I've also contacted Sennheiser before regarding refurbished headphones - they said a third party refurbs them, not directly by sennheiser.

This hurts because I just paid $130.00 for a pair through Amazon. I checked the Monster refurb section, but they didn't have any in stock at the time. At any rate, a real nice IEM. I'm very pleased. These would make a great first IEM as they are extremely comfortable, much moreso than my Shure SCL4s (though getting a good seal is a little trickier than with the Shures). So if you want to introduce a special someone to the world of decent audio, picking up a pair of these refurbs is a cheap way to go.

Audio-Technica ON3W ONTO headphones (the ones reviewed by ljokerl) available for $8, from J&R (sold by Amazon).

These appear to be no longer available from J&R. Too bad because that's a nice price. I rdered a pair at this price and they came in yesterday. They had the misfortune of arriving the same day as two other headphones I ordered: a pair of Monster Turbines and a pair of Sennheiser MX580s (Three headphones in one day?! You did this to me head-fi!!!!).

So the ONTO's don't sound nearly as good as either of those two, OTOH, I didn't buy them to compete with my decent headphones. I bought them to leave at my cubicle at work for those days I don't bring in a decent set of heapdhones. I had a cheap set that came with portable DVD player and they were just afwul. The ONTOs definitely sound much, much better than the no-name brand cheapies. However, at the same time there's no comparison when paired against a set of Sennheiser PX200 II's. On a scale of 1 to 10, with one being a $5.00 drugstor special and 10 being the Sennheiser PX200 II's, I'd rate these ONTOs a 6. Biggest problem is a lack of seal. These easily rate a 7.5 when I press them up against my my ears. The sound improves dramatically, then.

Amazon is selling these for $19.00 now, which might be too much to spend for this quality. HOWEVER, they do have the white ones on sale for $16.00 $11.84 (UPDATED).

And at that price I might consider the WHITE ones. Why? Because despite what they sound like, these headphones are delightfully styled and the white ones look positively fantastic (though I hasten to add that I haven't seen them in person). These are little gemstones and the packaging is first rate. Top notch. So I'm thinking the white ones might make a nice gift for a girl/lady who likes stylish things and isn't terribly demanding as far as SQ goes.

(UPDTAE: Amazon has these for 11.84 now. At that price I'd call these A STEAL!)

(UPDATE II: Pink ones for $10.46: http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-ON3W-Portable-Headphones-Drivers/dp/B0023RT0X6/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_3)

Gave the ONTOs a quick listen last night. Pretty lackluster sound. They kinda have the tinny sound you get from a laptop speaker. A definite step down from my Koss Sporta-pros. Then again, they were $8 and will serve as a backup pair for my cube at work just fine.
