The discovery thread!

I’m with you. I really don’t like the recent push for multi-quote posts. They’re a pain to read. As if this thread weren’t already enough work to catch up on. Much prefer shorter, multiple posts myself FWIW. Can’t win, I guess.
It's just "beef" my friend. Beef. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Discovery! Letshuoer dt03 DAC/amp coming soon. Wonder what will set this one apart from all the other ones coming out 🤔
Mine are with customs now and maybe here before next weekend, I guess it's a little refreshing seeing something else than all the Cirrus Logic dongles.

Also have a new Letshuoer IEM that is shipped soon, S08 and its a planar.

Torch bearers of the all-BA IEMs camp.

1. Night oblivion Butastur (10 BA)
2. 7th Acoustic Supernova (6 BA)
3. SoundRhyme SR8 (14 BA)
4. FlipEars Aether (4 BA)

All these IEMs are amazing in their own way. Good technicalities, nice enjoyable bass, good details and musical mids is what their basic characteristics are. You can’t go wrong with any of these.

Don't forget the EPZ 530.
Great set!

A review of Simgot Supermix 4 with comparisons to Kiwiears Quintet. It includes recordings to compare and I find it quite interesting. To me, the Quintet sounds quite open and impactful compared to the Supermix 4 which has a somewhat nasal tone and, to me, too much upper frequency loss. To each their own.

BOOM!! You're the fourth reviewer out the gate who said this very thing about the treble. So this is not isolated, but a TREND now. Davinci is borderline too bassy and the Supermix has blunted treble presence. *sigh* <---- to MY preferences only. All you others who enjoy this sort of thing...MPTY!! Cheers!

The first thing I see on these graphs is that the Davinci has less treble presence and air that ever single compare except for the notoriously dark Hisenior. LOL Beautiful shells, but really bassy with polite treble. Not my thing, but I'm sure those with bass prominent playlists will be in heaven?
Me right now 😇

I might be getting one or both for review as well. My guess is the S08 will be ~$50 to compete with other budget planar sets. At least going by naming conventions (S12 around $100 and S15 around $300) it makes sense.

CVJ is doing the throw anything see what sticks strategy
but unlike trying to do it in one particular direction like KZ/CCA do, CVJ is throwing it at all direction.
from super cheap, to premium drivers, to "gaming" iems, to uber waifu iems.

i was wondering what happen to CVJs KZ-AS24 competitor CVJ Kumo (24 BA drivers with soundtube and Knowles dampers)

CCA Hydro is in.

First impressions are... It's fine? Idk. Bass is kinda sloppy, highs are kinda tizzy. Mids are okay. I'd say there's better IEMs for the same price.

The upgraded cable is super nice though.

!7 months? Have to go back to 2012, and my halcyon days of ignorantly and blissfully listening to my Sennheiser CX300ii to find me going 17 months without a purchase. I remember paying $70 in 2009 at Bestbuy for those Senns, after my then wife bought be a Sony E545 DAP, and she and my mom weren't too happy with spending that amount of money on a "TOTL" purchase like that. LOL They were the most expensive IEM at Bestbuy minus the Beats line. They and that DAP outlasted that wife, and actually lived to meet my current wife, but 2012 coincides with those Senns breaking in bed accidentally, and my logging into Head-fi for the first time to see what would be a good upgrade suggestion for my Senns? It's no coincidence that I never went longer that 9 months without a purchase since.
If we count in today's speed of progress in IEM world, 2012 is as far away as the stone age. Your mentioned things were used by Cleopatra when she does not wanted to hear the tourists at the pyramids, right  ?
Before I digged deep in the rabbit hole of searching for IEMs, I used a DrBeats Monster from 2016 May (we were in China, I bought it there cheap) to 2022 July. No other IEM in that period bought by me and only 2 full sized headphones (I bought the 2nd one when I sold the 1st).
So, yeah, I understand not buying audio. Just not nowadays :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: .

---------------

On theme: I switched the cable on the Raptgo Hook X (green one) to ivipq 502 4.4mm and voila, I like the sound much better ! In general, that cable helped all my IEMs to sound better.
Also changed the tips from SpinFit CP145 (fit was nearly good, but the tips come off too easily) to a kind of noname one (mean: it was in a box of an IEM which has gone to a grinch bag; most probably came with 7Hz Legato; blue center white transparent one, "M" size). Sure I will do tip rolling later.

Edit: Raptgo Hook X (green one) and not HBB.

I thought it might be too warm/dark since you prefer brighter, more treble focused stuff?
Does it come off darker than the graph? Treble air missing? Tamed?
