Btw, @FranQL: I have just A/B Legato with my E5000. I don't know what to tell you, the E5000 driven from my Shanling M6Ultra is less bass and ironically, less warm and dark than the Legato. In any case, I think you can just stay away from this whole sound signature altogether. I have strange feeling that if you dislike E5000, you will dislike Legato too.

If volume matched, the Final E5000 is actually much darker than the Legato. E5000 is also way way harder to drive, in view of a low sensitivity, making it essentially very fussy with optimal source pairing.

The E5000 was measured with Type E ear tips, from Apple dongle. I did rerun the test with Fiio KA3 on high gain, but the FR is exactly the same, so I used the Apple dongle result.

Legato was measured from FiiO K7.

Maybe fit, seal, or because of the M6U, or something, but I'm shocked that the E5000 did not kick as well as Legato when I A/B to answer the question this morning.

And here is the thing, one Reddit guy who bought the E5000 after reading my impressions came back and told me "where bass?" Unit variation? Because the guy drove E5000 with his Topping stack, if I remember correctly.

Ah you are using different sources to measure these? I use a neutral sound card for both my measurements. Same source, same Dekoni foam tips, same insertion depth, same volume, so as not to introduce any confounders.

But the Final E series is infamous for shoddy QC, have seen Crinacle measure most of the series and the unit variation is shockingly bad.

Your graphs also aren’t normalized to the same points so you’re going to have differing results for that reason too

I see SR5-ish Sound Rhyme 4+1 going for 300CNY = 43USD and that maybe a total fake

Looks like SR5, spec says 9.6mmDD+2knowles mid and 1 composit knowles, so that must be 2BA composite SWFK 31736.. but shell’s faceplate different from the one we know.

Maybe SR5’s Chinese cousin.

Also JUZEAR’s V5 is going for 900CNY =129USD. I‘ve only see $270USD for V5.

And JUZEAR’s 51T which I never heard of.

Hmm feels like a dungeon there, Take Risk and buy smart or rely on bigger distributor.

The E5000 was measured when I first received the coupler. I used it to test whether there is any difference between Apple dongle and stronger amps. Since they graphs identically, I used Apple dongle only.

Lately, I use FiiO K7 instead because the graph is still the same, but the volume control of K7 makes it easier. With the Apple dongle, if I readjust the fit, the OS might pulls the volume of the dongle down as some kind of protection mechanism against loudness.

Speaking of Final Audio, I want to like them, but they are not as competitive (or even competent) as how their research suggests. Hopefully I can try their A5000 soon (and hopefully that one is not weird). ZE3000 was quite nice though.

But seriously, I question your graph of E5000. The whole point of E series is the mild but correct ear gain (and bass), as far as I know. Your graph has no ear-gain at all. Either the Dekoni foam tip, or unit variation, or something.

My 2 cents for the A5000, it is very meh. Auditioned it for 20 min at CanJam Singapore. The soundstage and technicalities are average, with blunted note edges. Hard to drive also.

Much better stuff out there at the same price bracket.

Hope Amazon Japan or some distributors sell the brass dick soon. Or I rush into HomeDepot to find a right sized brass and stick it into UC tips

Wow, have to try this! Not sure if they produce more ringing (than silicones) so more trails at end of notes thus lead to sharper / detailed yet can be double edge sword for already detailed or bright IEMs with emphasize on lower and upper trebles.
But my guess the bass part will be tighter since impulse response on this hard material will be taken as hard surface and doesn't make mid bass smear at all.

From my experience material used for inner tube of eartips play big part on impulse response and resonance chamber. TLDR :
Harder material = tighter mid bass, sharper lower trebles, perceived more details, towards analytical or drier compared to softer materials
Softer material = more wet or analog bass, smoother lower trebles, perceived more organic, leaner or less crispy sounds.
These also combined with size of the bores, where small bores lower down upper mids and lower trebles, and big bores open up those area and resonance of the bass.

Simple but quite complicated and make differences on how we perceived the final sound.
