I've been away from head-fi for a few years, but have always thought that the collective information in this thread is gold. Has anyone ever organized or analyzed the responses in this thread? There is so much collective experience here that is quantitatively organized, it could be the basis for a definitive rating system for all good headphones.

here it is - posts 4079 and 4095

That's very close to what I was asking about. Thanks! :beerchug: That uber rank result is a bit surprising, now I wish very much that I've heard the top two headphones on the list. (Senn HD800 and Beyer T1)

edit: now looking at old notes I forgot that I did very briefly hear the HD800 at a meet. Put them on, noted 'pretty bright' and moved on. Wish I spent more time with them.

Audioquest Nightowl Carbon
Beyerdynamic DT1990
Philips Fidelio X2
Audioquest Nighthawk
DT 770 32/80Ohm
DT 1770 (maybe mine were faulty they sounded like crap)

A bit problematic because i did not have the same good amplification for all of those but should still be more or less correct order

Kumitate Lab Sirius <-> Audio-technica AD2000
HE560
W1000X

The Sirius and AD2000 have very similar signatures, SIrius is slightly more resolving and is colder. They have separate use cases so I can't really rate one of them as better. HE560 is a great reference headphone that I enjoy listening to, especially with orchestral music. W1000X is a fun can, thick textured bass and good treble attack. I basically never own more than 3 or 4 headphones at one time so I only own stuff I really enjoy

9. Vsonic VSD3 (IEM)
10. Focal Spirit One S (would be at #5 if they weren't so uncomfortable)
11. Massdrop x NuForce EDC (IEM)

*UPDATE 3/3/18

I'm doing all the HP I've owned because its more interesting.
  1. HD800 or LCD-X (with vegan pads)
  2. LCD-X (Switches with HD800 weekly) (Own)
  3. CA Andromeda (Own)
  4. HD600 (Own)
  5. Koss KSC75 (Price/performance)
  6. CA Jupiter
  7. AKG K612 (Would be higher if more comfortable - amazing price/performance tho)
  8. TH-X00 Ebony (Would be higher if not crap build quality) (Own)
  9. CA Orion (Want again)
  10. STAX SR84 (Would be higher if not on-ear) (Own)
  11. Grado SR225e
  12. MEE Audio P1
  13. ATH R70x (really light but tiny freakin ear pads)
  14. HFM HE400i (Own)

  16. iSine 10
If I could get an AKG K1000 it would be at the top of the list but that probably won't happen.
