Both are made by Etymotic, so they will have the classic Ety analytical sound signature (though I understand that EP710 was tuned to be slightly different). For $55, I reckon it is a good buy if it is new, I won't touch it if it is 2nd hand as the cable used in EP710 / iM716 series isn't particularly durable in the long run.

i've been a silent reader of your shootouts and reviews, here and at abi.com
i currently own a VB, which i love how the low-bass sounds

and now i want to buy a pair of analytic kind of iem. based on your shootout i narrow my choices to re2/im716(i dunno where to find one in my country)/hk ep71, do you have any other suggestion ? btw i'm on a tight budget right now, so nothing more than $75 :)

thanks

If you are looking for Ety kind of analytical sound, the $55 EP710 might be your best option. iM760 has been discontinued for over 2 yrs now, so it won't be an easy find. RE2 is decent but I don't expect it to be better than EP710. I don't know where you live, but if you are willing to wait, maybe the new Ety MC5 will reach your market as well in a few months and it is close to your budget as well.

i live in indonesia, jakarta to be precise :)

how much will MC5 be ? i'm looking forward for your review on Ety MC5 :)

one more thing .. i'm still curious with altec lansing IM616, i once saw it in a headphone store in jakarta .. how do you compare it with ep710-ety-re0 ?

The MC5 is $79 here so it might be out of your price range and most likely more expensive when it hits your market.

i have the Soundmagic PL50 and i`m very happy with them.. very liquid mids.
also had the PL30 which is a good iem for the price and cx300 which sounded very muddy and was full of bass (it sounded like you`re listening to music from a bucket :) )..

That is the original manufacturer quoted price and used to be the price when they were sold in Russia. Unfortunately street price floats with demand.
