It looks like the octave mk2 will be a one enclosure dac..and not with a external power supply as the first version has..its now like the hex...

Placed order tonight. Hoping for no quality controls issues with the first batch. Can't wait.

Given the pre-production models John and I recieved, I would be shocked if there were. Fit and finish was basically perfect.

Agreed. The only flaw in mine is from when I smacked it into the metal bar on my Salamander Archetype rack. And it made a tiny little dot, almost non-existent. A normal enclosure would have taken more damage.

Orders will be shipping out late this week or early next week. So you are looking at a week and a half to two weeks for more impressions. I get mine back from Purrin Thursday.

Hi to all. My first post here.

I have the Mytek (LOL) and I am very interested in X-SABRE.
I hope to read more impressions and reviews.

In regards to the "LOL", may I assume you may read a not too glowing review somewhere? Or perhaps you feel it sheared your ears off?

You do know of the comparative review involving these two DACs and two others floating around the Internet somewhere?

Hi purrin, I like my DAC [*], but now I'm curious to hear the X-SABRE.
I've read the "google doc". With Safari is very difficult move between cells in order to read and understand the differences. It is also difficult to copy and paste in google translate. Anyway it is very interesting. So, although English is hard for me, I joined here to learn more.

[*] mac mini->firewire->dac-> passive preamplifier->powered pro monitors.

There was someone else in that thread who also used firewire via mac. It's likely that this method may have resulted in less treble issues compared to USB2.
