got my unit yesterday and surprised to see how musical sounding it is. definitely beyond my expectations even driving my demanding IEMs.

only thing i need to get used to would be side buttons unless there is a way to disable them that i cant find ?

oh, and is there a way i can control r6pro2 via an app such as mconnect on iphone ? i think hiby cast is good but a bit laggy.

Is this the platform you're talking about or is it a ripoff with the same name? 😅

Thanks. So maybe R6 2020 and R3 II will get full PEQ in addition to MSEB? Or does R3 II already have it?

R3-II does have MSEB and a GEQ, but no PEQ and they are not truly “global”: whether the option is available/applicable depends on the input—local sd, USB, BT, WiFi Qobuz/Tidal, DLNA, AirPlay.

MSEB is cool to play with, but true PEQ would be a welcome addition. With the introduction of the Moondrop Dusk, I have been thinking about DSP without having to use the included DSP cable with it's built-in DAC/amp... Not a huge thing, just thinking ahead...

There are plans to furnish R3 II and other newer HiByOS units with PEQ, yes.

@Joe Bloggs as someone who's used to (and prefer) playing/pausing and changing tracks via the screen, I humbly ask you to perhaps suggest to the software team that having the option to completely disable the left side buttons might be a good idea. Thanks!

Go to Settings / Security, you can turn them off there.

They're still active when not in the lockscreen though. I want to turn them off completely, even when the screen is on. 😄
I didn't realise that, I thought it used to be the case but I use a clear bumper cover now and it's no longer a problem.

TPU cases do prevent accidental presses. I'm still debating whether I should go back to using one but I do prefer the feel of the official leather case. Just took out the small plastic tabs hiding under the case earlier. Fingers crossed it'll help with the issue.

I suspect you are another victim of the stock case making the buttons overly sensitive. An easy mod described way at the start of the thread is to take the player out of the case and rip out the interior foam where they cover the buttons (there are cutouts for them, they just haven't actually been cut out). Then, the buttons are no longer susceptible to accidental activation, while still responding to purposeful presses.

If you are still after completely disabling the buttons, I would have to ask the devs...

The cutting of the inserts does help however I think the plastic case works better, personally I think the plastic case makes the player look tatty but it does help with the buttons so have resorted to using it. Eliminated the volume button which is the one I use mostly by connecting the Hiby to an amp as this makes life much easier.

@Joe Bloggs is there a way of some addon that would make the volume of all tracks the same ? I find there is so much variation beween the volume of one track to another when the player is playing in random mode. I know there is software that one can use to encode and save every track with the same volume but that would take forever.
Just wondered if it was possible for such an addon.

You can use replaygain to achieve this. It doesn't reencode the media, but adds tags to the metadata to normalize volume on playback.

Ohh, that doesn't sound so great to me. Brighter and focused on the upper mids and highs. I'm sensitive to that. After the last update, the treble on the M8 was damn good for me. But for me the upper mids are worse when they are too emphasized and tend to scream like iBasso DX 300 and especially the 320. Let's see if I can find a shop that has the Hiby R 6 Pro II and the Shannling M6 Ultra to demonstrate . I'd rather not order it blindly. Thank you for your comparison and your honest opinion.
I am in a very similar situation, I just got an dx300 and I also find it quite harsh in that region, any advices with a dap that sounds equal or best but smoother in that spectrum region?
