I do not want to debate basshead or not here, as that has so many interpretations, for example to someone who likes to listen to HD800 I might be a monster basshead, and to someone who listens to the JVC 2000 I might be a non basshead

But u mention things I own in your thread, so I have the right to commen, don't I????

well in your thread you have asg 2.5, you have the sony's

well to me the u12 has better bass than both and by better I mean better quality, and it definitely is a basshead audiophile iem, you might not agree, that is my opinion. Simply since you live where you can audition things go and audition it, if I am getting great bass from my ak380+amp with u12, so imagine what I am getting when I use my other combo cowon d and 5tx,

Mojo is not a basshead monster, its the best audiophile dac/amp in a portable configuration, with best sound quality that is in such a tiny form factor, but without eq and v4a it is not even close to have satisfying bass, so its the best device but needs the help of eq and v4a. And with eq and v4a that mojo is a dream. Add to it my oppo pm1 and I am in a bliss of audiophile bass world, NOT BASSHEAD world. I hope you do not mind us posting here and it seems I gotta find another term than BASSHEAD or Audiophile BASSHEAD for people who adore bass, until then I hope you do not mind me using that term.

However the 5tx enhanced bass edition is a bass monster, and honestly I think only few people disagree, and it gives bass like no other amp, and has a dam great sound sig, where the bass is really tight controlled and full layered . It is a joy and I am always going to buy from Headstage all what they will release, as that amp when i received it gave me a wow factor of 10/10.

Finally I do not do videos for paper tests, as that is not my thing, but all I can say go and audition things as you live where you can audition everything

oh before I forget for the u12 make sure when you audition it to use the sony hybrid foams tips to get what I mean by the bass

finally please know I am not a person who is here to please those blood sucking companies, as I had a serious discussion with a moderator about pricing and the insane prices of daps and iems, and I do not follow hypes at all, an example is the audeze lcd2, chord hugo, and some others whom I was against all the great reviews they had in those threads.

For Audiophile Basshead the items below give you an idea what I like and what not:

To me the keepers are :

U12
shure 846
5tx
alo mk 3 B
Oppo pm1-- man I love this headphone so much
mojo
and asg 2.5 when I get it back but I need to spend more time with it
cowon d

things I will sell:

sony xba z5 ( although I like it, but now I have other iems that I prefer )
digizoid fs - gotta go
fiio e18- good for its price for an entry in this audiophile world
venturecraft go dap x- nothing interesting in it
ak 380 + amp ( selling it as I can not justify what I paid for this ) although without eq it is a good dap, but I am willing to let it go, as I can have so much other gears for what I paid for, with eq it is not good in my books. Its the only dap where i like the bass without eq more than when i engage eq, every strange eq in the ak380
sony xb90ex- really good bass, but I like the sound sig of other iems more
denon da-10- just rubbish

things I sold:

audeze lcd2-- huge difficulty to get the bass I want from it
chord hugo--- i felt it has no bass
ifi micro dsd-- really great device, but mojo replaced it
fiio x3- good dap
fiio x3ii- good dap
fiio x5- good dap

I bet its a lot better then the 846. Just give the 90ex some more time. Then try the 2.5..

man the shure 846, oh what can say , I still love it, but the u12 has totally a different bass and listening experience. Honestly it is much better than the shure 846 in the bass department as a whole.

listen,
I never met you.
This is about equipment right? Right.

So no need to talk about rights or being offended or offending others.

If the site rules are not violated relating to user relations, equipment and company bashing and staying OT in threads...there is no problem.

I have no issue with you.

I am using you as a demonstration for public purposes like this...

There is no debate about what a basshead is. Same as the region where it took it's name from.
Car audio.
An extreme amount of sub-bass is what a basshead is.

It's not a debate.

The other things are folks with an affinity for warm and elevated response sigs. Basshead is not up for debate since it was a term used before the internet was the internet.

Folks that are not into measuring and demonstrating bass in car shows with meters and paper tests are likely not basshead since there is nothing to see.

Don't take it personal.

I never even mentioned the xb90..

who cares.
They are not the point.

Its a free world, and keep this thread to its spirits as that is why we like this thread

Basshead, bass lovers, audiophile basshead should all be welcomed here as we have different interpretation of what a basshead is

Unless this is just for the BOOM BOOM BOOM without any regards to mids and highs then truly I am in the wrong place, whom i bet no one just listens to just bass BOOM BOOM BOOM, as bass is part of the spectrum

Man I thing that TTPOD iem you reviewed really was making u so angry, cool down man and I like your thread so do not take me wrong man

you mention car audio, finally i am done with car audio as it drove me nuts, I used the helix pro dsp and you should see my eq curve there, oh man car audio was a nightmare to me to get the bass right ;), taking mic measurements and using room eq and then fixing things in the helix, oh man what a nightmare

car audio is the best, can drive around and hear great music. Go to a concert and jam it good while parked in front of the stadium.

I am not taking you wrong.

I saw a review where a person said the sub bass was exceptional but it wasn't basshead.

I've had enough of that ********.
Basshead = Sub-bass and . Folks (reviewers) implying bassheads like mid bass humps that **** the mids is a total bastardization of the term. I am a basshead and I love good mids.

That continuing narrative is what sent me off.

We are fine.

I'm actively pushing back against the continuing narrative of bassheads liking________ as told by non bassheads. That is done. It will not go un questioned anymore.

Did not mean to offend you bro. We both love bass...lots of it.

Going to get into cable making finally.

First project is using the old ex800st and connecting it to a canare cable

Excellent to see.
I have a hakko 808 and a 888 and the only thing that stops me from DIY'ing the cable is not having the guts to cut up the stock wire.
you are a stronger man than i...

[@]Hykhleif [/@]-He is a good bro, probably one of the more misunderstood bro's here.

Definitely give the Sony Xb90ex a little more time. It blows away the Shure Se846, and IMHO it's not even close. I'd rank it way up there and I prefer it to myself asg, other than comfort levels, it's a better all arounder, but damn it hurts my ears sometimes.

Would love to give the U12 a listen, sound pretty sweet from what you are saying bro.

First priority is making some damn money, then I can get some new toys. I would love to get the asg 2.5, and my tralucent ref 1 again. Miss those. From my memory, I think that might be the one to take over the Sony as my favorite IEM again.

Some of these threads get funny... I suggested the asg many months ago, and another member laughed at me, saying the jvc iem (forget the model) was much better, more bass, etc. I won't discount anything till I hear it, or one of our respected basshead Bros here says so.

thanks bro, and i learned to respect everyone's opinion

but when something is seriously off i go nuts and fire back, like in the example of ak380 eq where i went nuts in the thread, now they fixed it and i am happier than before

but still i will sell my ak380 as its too expensive to keep, and i will just buy the cowon p1 or cowon s

believe me i like the xb90 but i can not keep so many iems with what i have now

i am thinking to give it to my 10 year old son as he is a small audiophile and sometimes more difficult than me in his opinions about iems ;), although i bought him the sendiy m2 iem for 55 usd

also i respect hawaiibadboy and always listen to his recommendations as he is a pure basshead, i can call myself a semi basshead but i like this thread and i do not find anywhere else to share my bass experiences than here.

all respect to my beloved bassheads keep this thread strong

warrior1975 which tips are using with xb90

i am using the medium size hybrid foam filled ones ( green colour ), although i usually use large tips but with sony hyrbids if i use the large ones they hurt my ear

Feb 23, 2016 at 4:10 PM Post #4,484 of 12,654
I'm not warrior but imo comply t400/ts400 is best on 90ex

i will today use comply as i always was using silicon tips on my xb90, and i used today the comply on my u12 and i see that changing to comply makes a difference

i wish that sony hybirds foam filled were not hurting my ears but they do, even if i go to medium after an hour i have ear ache, and smaller than medium i do not get a seal, bummer as i like the sound out the hybrids the best
