I can imagine this color combination very well on a girl wearing black shoes, black skirt, red top and red handbag - as a fashion accesories.

Haha.. what are the odds of finding a chick wearing HD25-1 with red earpads?

Thanks for det pics!

Hmm, now that i see it on a person's head, they look much more feminine. It's so hard to judge sometimes, were even many guys wear pink t-shirts

But then again... Sony Qualia 010 features red (and rarely blue) earpads.....aargh.

Oliver,
Yup... i think i'll pass on this, and just get regular black velvet pads... the headband padding needed a refresh, so the "all in one" package was ideal. Shipping is also very reasonable.

They seem really hard to find in any case.

Thanks.

The Sennheiser HD25-1 is actually 70Ω impedance.

What is 600Ω is the HD25-13 model and also the HMD25-1 (600Ω per side, actually), the model with the microphone that people see broadcasters wearing very often on television.

HD 25-1's are hard to find USED (if you're in the US, theres one up for sale right now on Ebay...)

New pairs are running for ~ 200 bucks, again in the US. Doesn't seem like many people want to part with them...

I listened to these at a store in Seattle, and I was very impressed. Out of all the others I tried at the store: HD555, SR60, SR80, SR125, SR225; I loved the HD 25-1

a bit of a correction re ohm ratings (FWIW)
Cheapest version HD25 SP is 85 ohms
HD25 -1 is 70 ohms
HD25 Concorde is 300 ohms
HD25-13, HMD25, and HME25 are all 600 ohms - yes you need an amp for these - but do not require the power needed by full-size 'phones. I run them very nicely from Xin Supermini. As mentioned above, these versions are often used by sportscasters and broadcasters on TV.

Note that the HD25 SP is NOWHERE NEAR as good as the real HD25-1.

Anyone know if the HD650 cables work well with the HD25-1? And if so, is it hard to replace the stock cables with the HD650 cables?

rather than the SP version, you'd do better to search for a pair of HD25 Concorde. It is actually the same drivers (and all other components), but, at 300ohms (orig. done to Concorde specs to mesh with avionics). They sound better than the std. HD25 SP.

Edit: and yes, the 650 cables will work for HD25.

No, they cannot. But you can regulate the pressure via the degree the headband is parted - the wider apart the tighter.
