The stx on high gain would run the 600ohm version just fine. I ran the dt770 and the dt990/600 version and they both sounded very nice.
So just got my DT 770 250s, I have just been laughing for the past 30 min listening to music. This is seriously mind blowing what these sound like (I haven't been exposed to audiophile stuff in large) so compared to what I used before (ATH m50 which were horrible sounding, and over recommended to people, to Ultrasone dj1 pro, all the way to the HD555) these cans are f0cking smoking right now. Im running them unamped through reg pc sound card...sound fantastic and loud enough. It shreds horrible kbs sounding music like no other, and I can finally tell the difference in sound quality. Still might consider an e7 or something else, but wow, awesome headphones.
I just wanted again to say thanxs for the review zombie! helped me a lot
Thanks for taking the time to do this amazing review. This was one of the main resources that lead to picking up the DT990 pros this week. Can't wait for them to arrive!

edit: what an amazing 5000th post
My main problem with the 770 pro 80 is that at times, it sounds quite muffled. Didn't really get that from the 990s.
Looking forward to your DT150 review.
Kinda miss them.....
Great review, still though I'm a little curious as to how well my Zune will drive the 600ohm variety seeing as I currently lack a good amp
Do you guys think an E17 could be sufficent to drive the 600 ohm version? As I don't want to miss out on quality due to lack of proper ampage [in addition I'd like not to be entirely tied down to my PC as it sux right now and I'm to be moving soon]
