whoops, ATHM50, my bad and thanks

i should add that i'm not new to headphones, just getting into them more as i can't listen to my stereo much anymore (2x15"+2x10" seems to bother the family)

honestly i'm likely to pull the trigger on some HE400's for now as i'm completely obsessed with owning some planars after demoing the LCD2, but recommendations are very appreciated!  with the saved $ over the HE500's/LCD2's i can get into an asgard / lyr / similar and future proof my setup quickly!

In that case wait until you save the money.  Buy the HE-500--it's the best value you can get in a high end can.  An Asgard or similar Chinese made amp, like the Audio-gd NFB 12.1, will push it.

Hi guys
i'm considering buying one between the ATH Pro700mk2 original version and the Pro700mk2ANV (Anniversary edition)

I had the chance to try the pro700mk2's and it sound quite enjoyable to me, just that being picky, the mids are a bit muddy
but since anv's are limited so the retailer wouldn't let me audition, but according to what he said, it's an "Improved Version" or the pro700mk2,
and in a decent amount of improvment.

so my question is that
is it worth to get the ANV's over the original pro700mk2's?
(i'm kinda basshead, listen to progressive metal/ hard rock/ metal/ a little bit of dubstep)
i don't really care about the stylish concept the anv's bring out (it's a plus though), since that i consider the original pro700mk2 already quite stylish/catchy and appealing to me.

so not considering the look/ the limitedness, is it worth to get the anv's? or should i just buy the originals?

ps. my budget is fine with both, so i don't really care if the anniversary edition is a bit overpriced, if it's in any aspects better than pro700mk2 by a decent amount, then it's worth it for me!

thanks a lot

Pretty much agree on what KG Jag says, but i would say you should go with LCD2 rev2 bass if you planning on listening to mostly metal, hiphop, electronic, post rock. the LCD2 have a better quantity but equal quality to HE500 in terms of bass

I did post my own thread, sorry for that i did not see this one. anyway here are the contents of mine (can be deleted if somebody able to do so sees this)
Currently i am looking for a setup to listen to music on my PC, i mostly listen to rock, rap, metal, etc, would also be using them for playing games.
currently i am thinking of buying the following
Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO ($172.50 on amazon)
Indeed MK 2 Headphone amp ($75.99 on ebay)
DAC Destroyer USB DAC ($80 on ebay)
Also take into consideration that i will be using these for long periods of time, so comfort is very important to me.
Portability on the other hand is not very important to me, as it will stay mostly set up on my desk with my desktop pc.
this totals to around $330, and my target price was in the $350 range so works out pretty well.
but if anybody has recommendations on anything that may be better for a similar price i'd be very interested :)
Thanks for any recommendations in advance!

Im sure most people who post here say this but I am new to headphones and hq audio in general. I have a few flac files but thats about it.
I am looking for a set of closed headphones I would like to stay under 150 bucks.

I looked at a few of the into guides and picked up some MEElectronic a151 ear buds, forgive me if I get some of these terms mixed up. They sound great. I think they have some real clear sound and after the break in period they fit me pretty well although I feel they are a little to high at times with almost no lows. They do lack bass, I picked these up because I didn't really know what to expect I've seen some headphones listed as bass heavy and I didn't want to have nothing but bass, Ive tried beats and I really think they stink, I like to hear the lyrics. I'm use to the 10-20 dollar things you pick up at walgreens so I am sure a lot of things will sound good.

So I was hoping to get a few Ideas of what to look for. I like the sound quality of the a151's but I want more bass then they have. I would like something with a decent sound stage and a decent seal. it would be nice if it would fit in my backpack as well but its not really important. I don't plan on using an amp with it although I do have a cmoy I like to carry around sometimes. Oh and I am not that gentle with my headphones.

My short list at the moment is here. Anything outside of this list is more then welcomed.
mdr-v6
hd668b
se-mj5
dn-hp700

I listen to a wide range of music. Recently its been some pop, punk, drum and bass, break beat, country, and more.
Thank you guys in advance.

From you list, buy the Sony (or the Sony MDR 7506)--the other cans will probably not be durable enough.

If you're OK with neutral-ish bass, the KRK KNS 8400 or a good choice.

So the Xonar Essence STX can run the 250 ohm headphones without amplification im guessing? can it run 600 ohm as well? i am considering swapping to the dt 880 premium headphones, and it seems many people prefer the 600 ohm version to the 250

nevermind, just looked it up on newegg and found that it does drive 600 ohm headphones, thanks for the tip. Any suggestions on the dt880 vs the dt990 would be appreciated.

As I own 6 Beyerdynamics, DT770/80, DT770/250, DT880/250, DT990/250, DT880/600, T70, I guess you could say I'm a bit of a fan.
DT880 are balanced, the DT990 more of the fiesta sound.
I'm guessing go for the DT880s

out of curiousity do you use an Asus Xonar Essence STX as input for the DT880/600 or higher quality hi-fi equipment?
if this pair works well i'll probably get em, thanks for the help :)

Any one can  recommend me a pair of closed back headphones which are transportable and has enough impedance to avoid the bass roll off of my J3?
I am going to use the headphones for daily commute from home to work.

My music currently on the J3 are from the following artists and bands:

Bon Jovi
Scorpion
Police
The Beatles
The Corrs
The Cranberries
The Carpenters
Michael Jackson
Jimi Hendrix
Eric Clapton
Queen
Elvis Presley.

And I currently have a list of headphones that I already have in my sig, but I was informed the HFI-780 that I have doesn't have enough impedance to avoid the bass roll off.

My budget would be below 350USD.
Thanks for any help!
