What if I were to get the AKG K702? Would those fit my needs? Semi-open I would be fine with. And would the AKG K702 or the Denon D2000 be significantly better than the UE TripleFi 10s?

Still at it, huh? Might I suggest, since you expressed interest in the V-Modas, to just wait until the M-80s bigger brother, the M-100, drops. Same sexy design, legendary M-80 sound signature, semi-open, huge sound stage(reportedly), and great bass.

Everyone says the M50s have recessed mids, so female vocals really wouldn't shine in those. The S4i are good for ~$70 earphones, and the M50s are good for $150 headphones, and similarly priced headphones generally sound better than earphones so the quality difference would be a big step up..

Do you think the Sony MDR-V6s will be a problem then with female vocals?

Hey peeps,

I have no clue what headphone amp I should get for my Ultrasone HFI 2400. I want ZERO distortion throughout the spectrum, and am willing to spend a maximum of 60 dollars. I have been thinking about the JDSLabs Cmoybb v2.03 and the Fiio E11..... Any other recommendations?

The HD660 are more bassy & closed and the HD681 more midrange/sound stage & are semi-open.
So you can switch depending on what your listening to.
It only cost $18-$20 each to add velour ear pads, those same pads would cost $40-$50 each in the USA.
The shipper/seller Thomann charges a straight $40, so the more you order, it spreads the $40 shipping charge over more items.
I order $245 worth of stuff from Thomann last month and the same stuff would have cost me $360 in the USA.

IME, the HD681 is much more bassy than HD660. I find the bass on HD660 is only sufficient, HD660 is all about mid, it has forward, smooth midrange that sound "real".

I should have said HD681F,
I had to guess on the HD681F sound from others reviews.

Hello everyone

Just registered to ask for a recommendation

Budget: $150
Genre: Rock, New Age, Jpop/Anime
Sound signature: I like bass.  Probably along the line of moderate/heavy
Usage: Mostly gaming.  I'd like a well-balanced headset that won't crap out on music, though.
Open/Closed: I heard that open headphones have a larger soundstage.  Noise isn't really a problem, since I live alone.
Previous Cans: Plantronics GameCom 377 (feel free to laugh)

Audio-Technica ATH-M50

Do you think I should get the K240s or the M50s? I listen to country music so I think I'd take the better mids of the K240s than the bass of the M50s (plus the K240s are cheaper), but it's semi-open so I don't know if that'll be a problem. I'd also be using it with my laptop/iPod so I don't know if an amp will be needed with the K240s.

Hey everyone,

I'm new to head-fi. I'm in the market for some new headphones and I've been looking at the Denon D2000 and the NC800. I haven't been able to find a good comparison of the two so I'm hoping someone here can give me a hand. I'll be using them in the office (a startup so one big room and we're all on desks) and on the train. I would like something with decent insolation since I don't want to be bothered by ppl talking around me, and at the same time, I don't want my music to be bothering others. I'm coming from Bose in-ear earphones so I sure both of these would be great! I just don't want to sacrifice to much sound quality (d2000) for noise cancellation (nc800), but at the same time i want to have enough isolation for my needs.

Thanks!
Matt

The Samson SR850 (Made by Superlux) a Chinese knock off of the AKG K240, is even cheaper.

Looking for headphones in the 200 - 250 usd range, mostly listen to pop / rock

Looking at

Q701
Denon D2000
Audio Technica A900x

or others

In the U.S. you can get the first two new in that price range.

The third--AT 900x--is both the most expensive and the poorest choice of the 3.  Based on have the A900 and reading how the "x" compares, these cans are OK, but are the most soulless cans in my collection.

Get the Q 701 if you like clarity and sound stage.  It's weak point is just OK bass--but better than the K 70x cans.

Get the D2000 if you like bass/sub bass wrapped in a warm dark sound with slightly recessed mids.

Hey guys,

Been looking to get some new iems, after my rather shocking CX400-IIs were stolen. Joker's thread and reviews have helped me out a fair bit and narrowed the choice down to either of the two mentioned in the title.

The CW31s I can get for £21, whereas the R02s are £26 - not willing to pay more than £30, as I simply cant afford it.

Which is the best bet, or are there other alternatives out there? (Please dont just post a name, doesnt help me much :p)

Main genre is metal/rock, but I listen to a lot of Jazz and "Classical" (mainly classical or romantic) and am slowly edging into DnB (mainly liquid tbh).

Thanks in advance!
