After much review reading I chose the X-Fi Titanium HD, because I'm a Gamer as well as a music lover.
I had the luxury of testing the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250Ω which is owned by a friend, and they sound awesome even when I just plugged them into the X-Fi Pro "Weird guy edition" my Friend has (Please don't throw stones at me, I had no alternative at that point in time.)
Still they clamped a little to much and they had bit too much treble for my taste that's why I targeted the DT-880 Premiums because they are supposed to be more on the neutral side and have less of a death grip. The DT-990 reacted very nicely to EQ-Fiddling, so I think having a neutral Headphone makes it easy to color the music like the genre requires.
(Metal + Crystallizer = Ear rape, had a sharp pain for  ~4hrs )
I've read countless threads here, stating that the 600Ω version sounds better than the 250Ωs, I'd like to go for them, but that creates the dilemma of needing an Amp.
To be perfectly honest: I'm not really comfortable with the thought of spending ~400€ for a Headphone Amp that can't be used for anything else. Thus, I had an Idea: Why not buy a nice A/V Receiver and  have the option to upgrade to a surround system later on, when I'm out of my student one room apartment?
I searched and found this one to be to my liking:

A little note to my music tastes and the intended usage of the DT-880s:
- I only use them at home, I keep the Sonys for mobile use.
- I primarily listen to Soundtracks of all kind, Games, Movies (<3 Hans Zimmer) and orchestral music, occasionally I'm a metalhead (e.g.: Celtic Pagan Metal)
- My computer is the woman for everything: Movies, Audio, Gaming 
Now after this long read all comes down to 2 possibilities and 2 questions:
P1: Titanium HD -> 250Ω DT-880  (Spec sheet says it can drive up to 330Ω Headphones, Bonus: Saves money)
P2: Titanium HD -> RX-V671 -> 600Ω DT-880  (Bonus: PC-Network Access, Remote Control and no wasted money because it can be upgraded to a full home cinema system once I have the place)
Q1. Will the Yamaha be able to power the 600Ω headphones adequately or am I completely off course here?
Q2. Which Setup makes more sense / nets the better sound quality?

I would have said skip the Titanmium HD.
Get the Yamaha RX-V671 (I really like mine) and the Beyer DT880 Premium 250-Ohm. plug the motherboard's optical output into the Yamaha's optical input, plug the DT880 into the Yamaha's headphone jack. The Yamaha's Silent Cinema will provide surround sound for the headphones. That would save you a few Euros.

I went over to Addicted To Audio (Melbourne) the other day and trialed quite a few different headphones..
M50, AD700, SRH840, HFI580, DJ1, PRO700MK2, one of the Beyer DTs...and some i cant remember
..
Of all of them, I really liked the HFI-580 and the Shure SRH840..580s a tad more i'd say...
The guy who runs the place said that out of the ones that were available for trial, the only ones that met my needs of a CLOSED set of PORTABLE headphones that do well with HIP-HOP, RAP and a tad of DUBSTEP as well as gaming were the HFI-580 and the Shure SRH840s....
 
APPARENTLY, they have a soundstage good enough for gaming.. because i couldnt test them with any games, i dont really know...
 
I PMed a member of these forums who had recommended to another meber the SRH940 for gaming and according to him, "As far as competitive tracking goes - ie directional positioning - the SRH 940 is definitely better - it just has more detail retrieval, so it's clearer. The SRH 840 is more 'fun' though - it's more immersive because of the mid-bass. Neither is particularly good on sound-stage"
 
He reckons that, "If you want a cheap closed allrounder - that is really good with music, and still ok at gaming - consider the Fischer FA003 / Brainwavz HM5. You'll find plenty of reviews around for both. I currently own the HM5 - and it's a really good can"..
 
"SRH940 was pretty good for gaming - but very narrow genre range for music. To me, the SRH 840 was a lot better for music (not as detailed, and bass a little boomy at times - but at least it sounded real)."
 
Sorry about the quoting crap and massive posting, but can someone tell me whether any of the mentioned headphones are worth getting? I have read MLE's Gaming thread but didnt find much because that is based around use with Dolby Headphone..

What's a good headphone/iem for jrock and kpop?  Only thing I need is it to be closed and single-sided cable.  Also, it wouldn't hurt if it didn't look too bad

The ATH-AD700 would also work for NewAge, sound stage is always a plus.
Just get something that does not have a big bass, headphone that are open should be preferred.

Interesting suggestion, I know that when you use optical out you're basically bypassing any electronics from the card itself, so buying a high end soundcard doesn't really make sense unless you want Surround sound. I have to think about this one a bit.
 
Does your suggestion of the 250 Ohm Version imply that the Yamaha infact cannot drive the 600 Ohm version? I ask this because here in Germany there is no price difference between 250 and 600 Ohms.

I'm looking for headphones less neutral than my AKG 701 and with a little bit more bass. I'm listening to Jazz, Classical (Mahler symphonies, requiems, messiah, etc) et 70's rock. It should be closed or half opened with a price under 700$.

Yoo im lookin for good IEMs for around $100 (AUD). I listen to mainly hip-hop, RnB, lotsa ballads and pop. could someone give me some suggestions?? Ive had a look at HiFiMan RE-ZERO buut i found a lot of quality issues from reviews. I found the Beyerdynamic DTX 101 iE too buut heard that the sound isnt as good and there are better for that amount of money worth. I know i kinda am askin for a lot buut i just wanna get a good quality soundin and lastin IEMs. Hope someone can help Thx. or should i post this in a different thread??

Shure SE215 or Audeo Perfect Bass...maybe Etymotic HF5 although some consider them bass light.

I listened to the examples on my Sony MDR-V6 headphones and they sounded pretty good.

Oh hey just saw this thread... so I'm in need of some good headphones. I just got a brand new HP laptop with beats audio in it, so I was looking at the Beats Studio headphones to go along with it. But not sure if that would be worth the money since I see they get a lot of hate. I'm in a band and we play some heavy music (Pantera, Tool, A7X) I'm the bassist so I would like something that would produce some good bass, and I need a pair that will cancel out sound because our drummer is heavy with his sticks and I feel like I will go deaf after practice each week. For music I listen to mostly hip-hop like Kanye, and Kid Cudi. I have $350 to spend, but I'd like something around 150-200.
