I'm a first time headphone buyer, so I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. I only need them for listening to music, and I obviously want something comfortable so I can listen without wanting to rip the headphones off. I listen to folk, acoustic, ambient, hip hop, and classical mostly. My price range is around $150. I'm not sure about open vs. closed, because I like the idea of sound isolation but reading through the forum that apparently has its own drawbacks. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.
I would like to spend $200 maybe $250 if its worth it on a pair of over ear closed headphones. I mainly listen to rock. I will be playing them out of an ipod with no external amp. They need to be comfortable (will be wearing them 4+ hours sometimes). I have been looking at the ath m50, beyerdynamic dt 770, ultrasone hfi 780, akg k271 mii, and shure srh 840. I am open to other suggestions besides the cans that i listed. Thanks for all help!!!!
Smeggy Thunderpants
Sennheiser HD650
Audio Technica W1000/5000
it is now between the ath m50 and ultrasone hfi 780 for mainly listening to classic rock unamped. thanks for helping! i just need one last suggestion
Hi all,
Over the past couple of months I've been contemplating upgrading my gear, with christmas coming up and all
Right now I'm using a Sennheiser HD555, plugged in directly to my Macbook. I've been looking into the FiiO E7/E9 combo as a DAC/Amp, but I've read that it wouldn't make a huge difference with my HD555.
I listen almost exclusively to metal, ranging from Metallica to Cannibal Corpse to Mayhem, and all in between. I'm looking to spend about 200-300 euros on a headphone.
I've been scanning a couple of pages in this thread, and I've read some good stuff about Grado.
However, I can't quite make it out on some photos, but the headphone must be around-ear, not on-ear. I like how my HD555 feels, so something along those lines.
So in short: Headphone for metal, 200-300 euros, around-ear.

Hi guys.
I currently have a portable set up of a shure SE535 and a RSA predator, and for home use i have a meier concerto with a FA-003. I was thinking of getting a flagship headphone, but currently i'm having so much difficulty in choosing! I was initially tempted by the LCD-2 (i come from the military, so compared to the helmets we wear, the 400odd gram headphones are a child's play) but i've been searching around and it seems like there are a lot of workmanship problems with them. Should i still go for them? Or are there better flagships like the T1's. HD800's. HE-6? I don't really listen to a specific genre, but listen to a wide wide range...
thank you!
Hey guys, i need some relatively cheap (max 100$) MONITOR headphones... since I'm european i prefeer something that i can find on amazon.co.uk.
I want an "analytical" sound, currently I'm using a pair of HD598 (and i really like it, but i want something more analytical) with a Fiio E10.
I was thinking that maybe i should get a pair of V6... but then i saw that they're actually less detailed than the hd598..
