A bit of fun today...

For years I have watched as people posted their portable rigs with two, three or even more pieces of gear strapped together with great headphones or IEMs and pondered if I would own anything like what I saw. So today I have the portable rig to end all portable rigs! 3 DAPs, half-a-terabyte plus of storage and power for everything from ultra-sensitive IEMs through to planar headphones, even all at the same time! Now I just need to find some rubber bands as I didn't have any that would fit...

JH13FP... my tralucent gold/silver cable is with Gavin for retermination so have to make do with these for now as my 1plus2 just doesn't sound right with any other cable.

System is working in harmony is of high importance, once you've found the sweet spot nothing can surpass.

Today I was listening to the 901 with the new FW with discrete amp card and my NT6 with Beat Oslo II cable...well as much as I like the RWAK240, well the 901 remains my best sounding DAP. So impressive everytime. Even if the Hugo is technically superior, the 901 has that something.

Currawong has my RWAK240 & my HM-901 with both balanced and discrete amp boards with him. Squeeze him a little more to spill the juice on his thoughts of the 901 :D.

Hello @Currawong

Can you let me know if HM-901 discrete amp board could produce a wider and deeper sound stage than the balance amp card? Million thanks!!!

You sold Your HM901 right George

hi Rudi

I just received my RMA HM-901 back from Hifiman (with balance card) this week... after having used the AK240 for a couple of weeks, I am adapting to a relatively narrower sound stage of HM-901.... If you have interest to buy my HM-901, feel free to whatsapp me...

Hmmm...this is interesting.

Mimouille found the 901 is slightly better than his RWAK240 and you have total different impressions (your 240 is stock, I presumed).

I think it all boils down to personal preference. I value AK240 (stock) spacious presentation a little more than the note weight and better bass impact of HM-901.

just like Kiats style, it is worthwhile to own multiple TOTL DAPs

I think (never auditioned) the 901 is a muscular power house and drive most phones with authority which gives its edge over the 240.
