Cable Burn In with regard to Audio Directionality.

Wow that is bad. Better stop talking to save what reputation you have left. You do know that an NMR uses its small focused field to scan the body a bit at a time, hence it takes so long? Regarding the topic, all nonsense, of course, and everything that isn't in this thread, may be measurable...

    Super.Fi 5 Pro debate

Use the airline adapter for added impedance, the noise will go away. And I wouldn't call it a veil. I think the 5 pros are just unspectacular headphones. If you buy shures (e3 especially), the vocals are very prominent. Jazz is very sweet with them. Yet - is it a feature or a flaw? On the...

Soundstage headphones: I need help please

Don't worry, K340s pop up on ebay now and then. I saw a NOS K340 on ebay US a few weeks ago, but it was a bit pricey (300$?). I would not primarily think of soundstage when buying phones though. IMO it's a very elusive quality and frequency response is more important in determining the...

Soundstage headphones: I need help please

You do not have to mod the K340 in any way at all. Well, possibly excepting changing the earpads, there are velour ones that are a lot more comfortable than the standard leather earpads. Apart from that, it sounds just fine stock. IMO it's not very hard to amp either. You may get better sound...

Help needed on selecting a pair of headphones/earphones.

It's not as easy as that. The Senn 650 will probably not be a bad choice, if you go for fullsize phones. IEM's have a hard time matching similarly priced fullsize cans. Beyond that you will have to listen to them and then you will know if it was the right phone, no earlier than that.

    Sony ex51

It's not even about the bass, or the cable, it's the treble. The uber piercing evil treble. DO NOT GET THOSE PHONES. The Senn mx500 blow them out of the water.

    Electrostatic headphones with Magnetic Drivers?

Nothing is used to drive them. They are PASSIVE. Like in a passive radiator subwoofer

    Electrostatic headphones with Magnetic Drivers?

EDIT: the electret is the big metal thing in the middle, those are just passive diaphragms to tweak the frequency response or something.

    Electrostatic headphones with Magnetic Drivers?

The K340 uses 1, not 6 electrets, a big one mounted in the middle. Crossover is mechanic with the dynamic driver mounted behind a panel and 5 small passive diaphragms linking it to the main chamber with the electret.

My thoughts on Plantronics Audio 550 DSP

Personally I find the sq of the plantronics 90 disappointing. The only reason I stick with plantronics and don't use my K340 is that the p 60 is a lot less hot than a circumaural phone. Almost everything recommended here will be a lot better than those. Of course, for gaming, it's...

Th Audio Critic: An Objective Look at Audio (Hype or not)

@kees: that's probably enough . But I don't believe that cat5 cable copper is in any way superior to power line copper or any other copper in any cables. It is used to transfer digital signals with a pretty good crc and resend if anything is lost: They are not optimal, but just good enough for...

Th Audio Critic: An Objective Look at Audio (Hype or not)

Subjective human perception is always hard to quantify. But I'm not sure if it has to be about perception. How about using 2 different cables, one carrying an inverted signal, link them together and look if there's anything left, or something using a 2 channel oscilloscope, I don't know. If...

Comparing the HD 650 with in-ear monitors

Equally priced full size phones will usually be a lot better than IEMs. I'd even go so far to say that high end full size phones sound better than high end IEMs that may cost a lot more.
