First GENERATION SR-60s?
I just got a chance to listen to a new pair of SR-60s, that have been well broken in (almost a year of use, from my friends brother.) Canman was not lying when he said he thought the older Grados sounded better . The newer Grados have what seems to be more elevated treble, and not nearly as...- Xander

Grado SR-60 cable mod.
http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showt...0&pagenumber=2 Just figured I'd link the end of that thread here, so nobody missed it. Not sure if it's been done or documented before, but I figured maybe it would inspire someone to make their Grado's a little more convenient.- Xander

Grado SR-60 = Yes
So, I met a fellow Head-Fi member for a brief few seconds (wish it could have been longer.) I exchanged $25 for a pair of 6 year old SR60s with deteriorated pads and a broken cable. I took them home, replaced the pads with that of the HD414, which I must say, look lovely in yellow . I also...- Xander

Koss PortaPro bass = how bloated?
Can anyone tell me if the bass on these earphones is of disgusting proportions, or if it's just slightly elevated? Or even better, relative to the rest of the frequency response, which frequencies are how many decibles above the average frequencies in the rest of the spectrum? Trying to find...- Xander

Porta Pro, PX200, PX100, HD497?
Ok, so I just decided to sell off the rest of my equipment, completely removing me from the hobby of high end audio all togather. It's consuming too much time, thought, and resources at the moment. I still need something to listen on, however. For the record, I have no problems listening on...- Xander

good stepped attenuators?
I'm working on a balanced opamp project. Since both channels are 100% isolated, I'd like to keep it that way, and use individual volume controls for each channel. Course, this can be a pain in the ass to get "right" so I'm assuming using stepped attenuators would make it easier, since you can...- Xander

Our bodies are disgusting sometimes..
I have a cold, and all this mucus crap in my throat. So I cough. Uhoh, theres a big blob of slimey **** in my mouth now. So I run to the sink and spit it out. I expected something clear, but what I was to find was a blob of something that looked like honey dijon mustard with little specks of...- Xander

OpAmp based amplifiers / PS vs 9V
Maybe I'm crazy. I've articulated some of the best power supplies I could possibly create. On a scope, damn near no ripple. Buffered, and buffered, filtered, huge transformers, the works. Then on the other end you have a little amplifier based upon some cute little OpAmps, 18v vs 18v, the 9Volt...- Xander

Fun Stuff: Had my way with a Sony CD deck....
I don't do too many interesting projects that often anymore, but I figured this one was unique enough to add. Not sure if it's been done before, though I'd bet it has. Not really DIY.. Sortof a mutilation project. Whats inside that you can see, is a OpAmp based amplifier, sortof like the...- Xander

It's amazing how horrid some expencive things can sound..
A Sony sports PCDP, for example. $100 gets you 20 hours of play time, and absolutely horrid sound quality. Harsh, grainy, disgusting, lifeless long shards of hardened catfish feces. Thats how I felt after plugging my 7506's into a Toshiba laptop. I'm affraid to plug them into my headphone...- Xander

Ever modify a PCDP for the better?
I really like my Sony S2 PCDP.. Durable, though you cant disable skip protection, and it has excellent error correction, since some of my CDs are less than perfect, this is good. The problem is, with all amps that I've designed or amps that I've built from other designs, theres residual...- Xander

D-25S thoughts...
Excellent line out.. Really good sound through headphone output, it's like a pice of jewlery.. Heavy, pretty. Not so good error correction. Keep your CDs in good condition, and you'll enjoy this thing a lot.- Xander

Sony D25S on the way... Few questions.
My curiosity got the best of me, and I just gave someone an excellent trade for one of these things and a couple of batteries. I have experience with much older CD players, like my old Sony, AKAI, and so forth, and old error correction seems to be very good. Infact, sometimes better than...- Xander

Sony D-FJ75TR
Does anyone have any experience, comments, or anything about this PCDP? I'm in need of a new PCDP with a remote, this one seems to fit well. I have no way of listening to it or seeing how the build quality is, however.- Xander

RadioShack (Koss) Pro35 - 33-1122 (not as bad you thought?)
An interesting find.... I inteded to use these for portable use. And if you have any experience with them, you know they have bloated midbass. BUT, I found a cure, which makes them a very good portable headphone for $20 when they're on sale. First impressions were exaderated midbass and...- Xander

Remember how annoyed I made you?
Now I can do it all over again! Just figured I'd say hi, seeing as how I havent been here in a while. Life sortof took over, and still has a good grip. :-) I'm going to be selling all of my equipment shortly, too. Some rediculous deals to be had. See. A complimentary yard sale for my...- Xander

Why are headphone amps so expencive?
You must've wondered this at one point, and I still can't figure it out. Short of lack of popularity, which could explain it. Somehow, we're able to buy complicated CD playing units, surround sound receivers, power amplifiers, preamps, all at relatively cheap prices. Though the quality at around...- Xander
