I really like my Sony S2 PCDP.. Durable, though you cant disable skip protection, and it has excellent error correction, since some of my CDs are less than perfect, this is good. The problem is, with all amps that I've designed or amps that I've built from other designs, theres residual background hiss due to the poor amplification circuitry within. It also doesnt sound the best, either, though it is acceptable.
I'm ready to crack it open and figure out what it's using in its amplification stages, and try to change them for the better... But while doing so, I was curious if anyone else has messed around in this realm as well, and what kind of results they have had.
Purely out of curiosity.
