HD800 vs. Koss Porta Pro
I was comparing my Koss Sporta Pros to my Fostex TH600 and I was thinking, you know, yeah the TH600 sounds better, but is it really *that* much better? For the massive increase in price (more than 10x more costly). In particular, I was listening to music at 320kbps, and was getting annoyed how...- novacav

RSA **Predator** A review in stages ** With some "NEW" images on 1st and page 64 . . .
...outclassed by some $100 Fiio or something. Meanwhile, while devices like the Chord Mojo are all the rage, I've always been skeptical that they're *actually* that much better than an RSA Intruder say, or Predator for lower impedance gear. I know replies to this will be "your own ears have to...- novacav

How good is the Woo Audio WA7 built-in DAC? Is it as good as Schiit Bifrost?
I agree as it applies to DACs, but as for soda itself.... Coke is better- novacav

iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out
The DAC in the new Touch is actually very good. I find very little left to be desire when using it with iems. With full size cans, the the DAC and amp in the thing do a surprisingly good job, it's just not quite there. Hopefully lightning digital out becomes a reality someday, besides that hdmi...- novacav

Michigan Spring Meet-Up 2013 (APRIL 20TH @ MSU KELLOGG)
Hey guys! Looking forward to this. Sadly I sold the Terminator V4s I said I could bring. I'm getting some Mad Dog T50RPs which would be awesome to take along, but I don't know if I'll have them in time. Fingers crossed!- novacav

POST PICS OF YOUR DARTH BEYERS
Quote: Hey folks - would anyone want to buy these? The bass is still a little strong for me after burn-in, and I wanna recoup some of the cash I just spent on a Spring break trip to Utah, haha. As much as I like these, if they're not my dream headphone I can't justify not making some cash...- novacav

Fiio E9 *The Big Users Guide* ~ The 10 x headphone round-up ~ How does yours stack-up with the E9? <pictures inside>
Quote: Yea, sorry if I wasn't clear! What you just said is exactly what I was trying to say, haha. Like, if the E9 is connected to ****, people say it's the E9's fault, but it's not, it would be the $30 CD player's fault.- novacav

Could a modded T50rp best an HD650 (or come close to an LCD-2)?
Quote: You felt they sounded awful? Here's the thing, for me. Straight up sound quality wise, stock they are not incredibly impressive. Good for the money. But in terms of the overall balance, the neutrality/flatness of the response, the lovely quality of the mids and the tight and...- novacav

Fiio E9 *The Big Users Guide* ~ The 10 x headphone round-up ~ How does yours stack-up with the E9? <pictures inside>
I just want to throw in, and OP clearly recognizes this, but I think the E9 often gets flac for things that are actually the E7 dac's fault. I use the E9 with an HRT Music Streamer II, and though it's not a super high end dac, it's a huge step up from the E7 in my view and I've enjoyed my E9 a...- novacav

POST PICS OF YOUR DARTH BEYERS
Wow, nice setup! Hmm, yeah I'm just using a Fiio E9, should I be giving them more juice? Mine are not the 600 ohm so I figured it would be ok. Then again, maybe that is why they are so bassy in the first place.- novacav

Old School Trio: AKG K701, Beyerdynamic DT880, Sennheiser HD650
the q701 fixes alot of people's typical k701 issues, in my opinion. yes, it's still bass light, but there's more bass than before and the headphone (Q701) is not fatiguing at all in my experience. an awesome complementary can for many genres, unfortunately things like death metal or even heavy...- novacav

POST PICS OF YOUR DARTH BEYERS
Hey! I just bought these sweet Terminator V4s off of Slickman. I really dig the sound so far. My question though, what do these tend to do with burn-in? I don't think they have a whole lot of hours on them, they are just a HAIR more bass than is ideal for me. If they even out over...- novacav

iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out
Also, I'm really hoping the new Touch has a decent DAC. I was comparing the DAC in my iPod Classic to the one in my Galaxy Nexus, and the Gnex destroys it. And it's definitely the DAC, not the amp - the Galaxy Nexus headphone jack with my RE ZEROS sounded night and day better than the iPod...- novacav

Quote: I know not everyone can afford it, but MOG is only five bucks a month for unlimited. And ten bucks a month for unlimited plus the app. But you still get 320kbps in the five dollar version, whereas Spotify you need to get the premium ten dollar a month subscription to even get...- novacav

iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out
Until we know for sure whether the digital audio out over lightning is "locked down" or not, then there's no point in getting to worked up about it. If it's not locked down, it's pretty much the best thing ever as far as I'm concerned - feeding digital to something like the UHA 4 as someone...- novacav

Anyone hear the Fostex TH900???
The real question as far as I'm concerned, do these sound any better than the Mark Lawton/Lawton Audio D5000s and D7000s? Obviously these are an upgrade over the stock Denons given the price, but I wonder if they are basically just doing the same thing Mark does and charging out the butt for it...- novacav
