We haven't come as far in 30 years as we should have: my experience with a NOS pair of AKG K340's
I bought my stock k340 off of eBay Deutschland for $112 IN 2007, IIRC. The day they arrived I plugged them into my speaker amp (solely because it was the handiest amp with real power). I was supposed to have left the house.......but couldn't pull myself away and continued to listen. ...- BushGuy

T1's Uncomfortable..Anyone Else
Funny you folks have these problems - really, a little creative bending done with Beyers, and Grado can easily be done. Both get bent to match, exactly, the confirmation of my head. HINT: if you bend each end of the headband to be relatively flat - it allows the headband to be bent closer in the...- BushGuy

You must all be aware the headband can be stretched to conform to your head like all of the other top-tier Beyers.- BushGuy

a new cable for grado hf2
Have Grado do it, or Larry at Headphile. You want to stick with pure Copper for them. Personally, I prefer Larry's BlackTop cable - I have it on my modded HF-2's.- BushGuy

The Grado HF-2 Review/Comparison Thread
I got 3 HF-2 and eventually had them all modded into Vixen - and they are keepers.....along with my RS-1, and HP-2.....besides my Beyer mods. The only thing possibly left for me would be T1.- BushGuy

POST PICS OF YOUR DARTH BEYERS
True, these aren't Darths - but are Vixen (v.3 Amboyna Burl/Blacktop cabling) which have HF-2 drivers ............but I think of this as much a Larry page as a Darth page. Here are the "traditional" pre-delivery pics that Larry sent me: These are my third pair...alas, no more HF-2's- BushGuy

Need some quick advice on the HD 25 1 II
Why not? It is selling the realm of what you should expect to pay, and the seller has a sufficient feedback score. However, if you are located in the USA - I would refuse to pay the exorbitant shipping charge. .....eg - if you sent them Priority mail at the USPS - you'd expect to pay aprox...- BushGuy

Saving Portaphile "juice"
My recollection is that Cesar used Nichicon's (I believe), and introduced use of Blackgates in Portaphile when he introduced the Maxxed version........anyhow a very good amp - particularly when some 'phones need bass help.- BushGuy

Skylab ... Blue Circle SBH question for you
Not all Blue Circle SBH are two piece.......they build, on order a one piece version - so I can't imagine there would be any significant difference with placement. If you already have the 2 piece version - why wouldn't you try it and listen for yourself. I have the all-in-one or one piece and...- BushGuy

portable amp that will drive the K271 well?
The Portaphile Maxxed does one of the best jobs with k271 - makes them seem as if they aren't bass-shy at all. However, it does tend to eat batteries. I used it with a wallwart, so that was never a concern for me.- BushGuy

AKG K272 too fragile or flawed design?
Once upon a time I had a pair of K271S and never had a breakage problem with them - but sold them because their sound was below par for me (kept k240s a lot longer). Even then, their lack of bass was immeasurably aided by a Portaphile.- BushGuy

Would it be silly to woody HF-2?
In my book: changing cables = subtle differences. I never do it with an otherwise stock phone. You often see cases here where peeps praise their new cabling to the skies - then, two months later those recabled 'phones are on the F.S. pages. re mod. to Vixen - you will learn that Grado driver...- BushGuy

Would it be silly to woody HF-2?
I also prefer 2meter cables over the usual stock 9' cables. re mods to wood: I was able to buy more than one HF-2, thru friends. I chose to go with (Headphile) Vixen - where my HF-2 drivers are put into open Beyer shells and wood, along with Headphile cabling............last week I decided to...- BushGuy

Beyerdynamic to launch new top headphone at IFA -- called T1
I had 2003 dt880, sold it and got 2005/600 ohm.........and sold it. .......took the Headphile road for both Beyer and Grado. Today, the only new headphone on the market that interests me is BEYER T1.- BushGuy

Grado GS1000 vs. headfi’s Grado Elite’s
Two minor points: Larry uses the term "Elite" to signify those headphones that were built with all of the best stuff (Neutrik plugs, splitter, CJC, a non-basic cable choice etc) and two or more woods. A great many Hf-1 owners availed themselves of the Headphile mods. - incl. a version with...- BushGuy

a question for those who play classical music
OMG - you seem to forget the hybrid alternative - modded K340.......which does not lack the dynamic impact of stats and also avoids the hash endemic to purely dynamic phones. They're still the tops in definition of individual instruments an a symphonic orchestra.- BushGuy

POST PICS OF YOUR DARTH BEYERS
Two updates for me: a) I sent Larry a pair of 2005 dt770/600 drivers (gotten from Beyerdynamic) for him to put into a pair of Blister Koa Terminators, but there was something wrong with one of them......so, sent them back to Beyer for replacement. The job will get done, eventually. I'll see...- BushGuy

Sound isolating IEM's for Ipod Touch
Klipsch x10 have been playing very nicely with my Touch.......and are very comfortable itsy bitsy things. I had tried (for awhile) Triple Fi 10 and those are the ones I sold for lack of comfort (tho better-sounding). HF2 vs. SR225
Only a fool wouldn't grab a pair of HF-2. They're a quality H.P. as stock, and I've had them modded to Vixens and they become even much, much better. You should be aware that history could be repeated. In the days of HF-1, Todd held a similar "cleanup" sale.......and aprox the same number of...- BushGuy
