Seeking advice from Head-fiers from India/Kolkata
I have a acquaintance over in Kolkata who wants to demo a pair of Sennheiser HD800s but apparently the nearest show room is in Mumbai, which is 2000km away . My question is if anyone knows of a hi-fi shop (near as possible to Kolkata) that at least stocks the HD800s and may possibly let him...- viper_45

Video of Steve Hoffman's lecture?
Hi, Sorry if this is posted on the wrong forum but I was wondering if anyone had a link to the video of Steve Hoffman's lecture back in 2007(?) at the Can Jam. Thanks.- viper_45

Benchmark DAC1 vs USB vs PRE vs HDR
Hi, Sorry if I appear to be lazy but I was wondering if anyone had information or links that show the differences between the Benchmark DAC1 line up, if there are any, in the D/A conversion section. What I mean by this is that: if I were to compare the DAC1s using a CD Transport via...- viper_45

Onkyo ND-S1 iPod dock
I'd be interested to find out if this has bit-perfect output. I'm not sure if I trust the press release, but it specifically says: Quote: Next generation Onkyo dock delivers Bit-Perfect Audio from iPod players and syncs with iTunes I'll keep an eye on this thread. Fingers crossed.- viper_45

Nice Customer Service
I guess one of the advantages of dealing with smaller businesses is that it doesn't take long to speak to someone who knows what they're doing . I'm quite surprised about the experience with Benchmark... but I guess I shouldn't be.- viper_45

Nice Customer Service
I recently managed to lose one of the tiny case screws when I was opening up my TA-10. I couldn't find a replacement screw at any hardware stores and being a little AR, it was irritating to have a missing screw . So sent an email to Trends Audio and got a response the next day. They are...- viper_45

hiphop headphones
I would recommend Sony MDR-7506 (MDR-V6). They isolate pretty well and have a gentle mid-bass emphasis that works really well with hip-hop. They're a bargin on the FS forum (if you can find them).- viper_45

Balanced HD800 cable - looking for solutions
This may be a silly question but has anyone actually tried to use a HD6XX cable on the HD800? From one of Jude's photos of the HD800 plug/socket (posted on the other thread) it looks as though the pins are about the same width apart ~4mm for both HD800 and HD6XX. Quote: Originally... -

Sick of Hip Hop?
I am really glad to see that there are still some fans out there who care enough about hip-hop to realise that there's a problem with what it has become. IMHO the problem is that, nowadays, people who buy and listen to hip-hop don't love it for the music (i.e. the lyrics, the flow and... -
K701/HD650
In my experience the K701 were harder to drive (i.e. required more turn on the volume knob) than the H650.- viper_45

head-fi member stole another member's headphone and sold them twice!
This is quite shocking to me. Catwoman sent me various PMs about trading my MS-2i with her HD650. It all makes a bit of sense now, as she was adamant about wanting to trade and not buy. I feel very fortunate that I didn't go through with it.- viper_45

Quote: Thanks for the further comments. All the reviews for the X10 have also been outstanding and none have mentioned dramatic colorations or fuzziness. The X10 is also limited to just under 5000 units being made due to the rarity of the tubes. I'm going to call amusicdirect to see if...- viper_45

Music Fidelity X-V3 bundle thoughts?
I haven't heard the X-10 tube buffer yet, but I don't see the benifit on adding an link in the audio chain - no matter how you look at it, it will be adding *some sort of distortion. Whether or not it sounds "pleasant" is down to personal preference, but to the purist, it doesn't matter.- viper_45
