Monster Miles Davis Tribute thread
I have tried that route, and it did not work for me. I think that too tips too large will cause leaks. Perhaps the foam or silicone is creasing and causing an air leak. I am not sure what it is, but it doesn't work for me. I have experienced bright or harsh treble when the seal isn't perfect...- bjb

WARNING: Fake IE8s! Comparison pictures included!!
The one thing that seems to be consistent, is that the plastic band that goes around the packaging is taped on the fakes and is completely connected on a real box and requires cutting. I was able to pull the plastic band and open it, and then I could see the tape on the band. I would forget...- bjb

Thanks for the updates. I just ordered the m11+ tips, so I guess I will find out. I really like the Sennheiser double flange, and the m11+ double flange looks identical. The positive reports about these tips coupled with my previous experience with the Sennheiser tips has me really hopeful...- bjb

I tried the Auvio tips and the Sony Hybrids, and I don't care for the Sony Hybrids for the same reason some of the others have stated. They sound a little too closed in. The Auvio tips sound good except for the increased sibilance, and they are not terribly comfortable for me. I think...- bjb

Yes, do let them burn-in. I really liked mine straight out of the box, but I think they are even better now. I am not sure how much time I have on them, but I would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50 hours. A few days ago I noticed a change, and I think they are smoother now, the...- bjb

WARNING: Fake IE8s! Comparison pictures included!!
Can you provide some comparisons between the sound quality of the two? Naturally the real ones will sound better, but I am curious how different they are. Quote:- bjb

I believe they still come with all of the things that the first set came with. My pair and a few others are no longer serialized, so that may be the only difference. I got: The 2 CD "Kind of Blue" set One set of silicone tips One set of silicone super tips One set of foam super tips Two...- bjb

Just call J&R and I bet they will sell them to you for the same price. If not, I bet they will come very close, since I bought mine for close to that price when they were listed as $399. Quote: I have had mine for about two weeks now, and I really love them. I have heard...- bjb

Newbie review: Klipsch Custom 3
Cinching the cord behind your head will also improve the microphonics considerably. With that said, it really is surprising how microphonic the cord is for an over-the-ear style earphone. Quote:- bjb

Newbie review: Klipsch Custom 3
Quote: You really think so? I tried this, and I found that it ruined the midrange. One of the things I always liked about the Custom 3 was the midrange, even if it was a little too warm for my taste with a perfect seal, and the Monster hybrids made female vocals sound harsh and...- bjb

Here are some pictures of where I am looking for the serial number just to make sure I am looking at the right things. To the op, nice review. Quote: My cable has developed this problem in many places including the bottom of the memory wire on both sides, at the plug, and several places in-between. I just cut the surrounding mesh, so that it hangs straight again. The cable is beyond...- bjb

Monster Miles Davis Tribute thread
Has anyone tried cutting off one of the flanges off of the triple flange tips? It seems as though those tips would work well for me if they weren't so long. Maybe I will try to get some IE8 bi-flanges, since those seemed to fit my ears well. Has anyone tried those and gotten good results? ...- bjb

That's weird, I cannot find the serial number on mine. I got a sealed box from J&R, which is on the authorized dealer list, and everything about them seems authentic. I am looking at the Y-connector. I looked on the Miles Davis side, the Monster logo side, and on the gray portion above the...- bjb

Monster SuperTip question
Do your gel supertips have dents in the side, like they haven't been filled with enough gel? All of my gel supertips are like that except for the smallest tips. I am just wondering if this is normal, or if I should ask Monster to send me some new tips. All of the pictures show them as being...- bjb

Any idea on new Klipsch models?
I might send my Custom 3's in to get re-cased, so I can bring some utility back to an otherwise good sounding earphone. I could get them replaced under warranty, but it seems like a hassle for something that will inevitably happen again. If nothing else, I might get brave and try to rewire...- bjb

Open-box Monster Turbine Pro Coppers from Onecall.com, Still Shrinkwrapped??
I contacted them about the "my price" feature when they switched to the new "headphone store", and the person didn't know if they would add it back or not. You can still negotiate a price if you call or email them. I contacted them about the Miles Davis version, and they were willing to come...- bjb

Are Shure SE535's No longer top tier / high end IEMs?
Glad I am not the only one that finds a flaw in that statement. I don't dispute that the brain can adjust and allow it to perceive a good or natural sound. What I don't get is why you would want that. Everything else would sound off then unless you match all your other equipment to that sound...- bjb

WARNING: Fake IE8s! Comparison pictures included!!
My fakes were quite a bit better than what you describe. I was able to get good bass out of mine. In fact, that was the best part of them, and I would say that the bass was better than my Klipsch Custom 3's. It was downhill from there though. The mids were recessed, but not tremendously so. ...- bjb

There are two things that likely make his statement false. First of all, you have to be an authorized reseller to get them straight from the factory. If his are real and he did get them straight from the factory, Sennheiser will have his company name or seller id on the authorized list. My...- bjb

Based on what I read in this thread, it sounds like the Miles Davis are for me. I like the vocals to be more emphasized, and it sounds like the slightly forward mids would accomplish that. Bass is the second thing I look at, and it sounds like these deliver in that area as well. I also like a...- bjb
