Recent change to iPod/iPhone built-in EQ?
Ah, thanks for the info and the tip! I guess I never thought Apple would greenlight specialized EQ apps because of that whole "duplication of functionality" thing. This is great news indeed. Thanks again!- markopolo

Recent change to iPod/iPhone built-in EQ?
I've been listening to iPhones and/or iPods in one version or another going back to the iPod 4G click-wheel. The built-in EQ has always been crap (as many on these boards can attest) because it caused clipping and distortion due to what I was told was an "additive" rather than subtractive model...- markopolo

Futuresonics atrio m5/m8 vs Sennheiser cx500
I picked up the Atrios (v1 it turns out) recently from the $99 OWC special and will be comparing them shortly to the CX550s (not the CX500) on order. So far I've been very impressed with the Atrios. These are my first IEMs with dynamic drivers, which I'm starting to think produce a more...- markopolo

Where to buy Sennheiser CX550?
It looks like these are going to be my PK1 replacements (unless someone can steer me to something better/comparable). Anyone know where I can find these shipped to the US without costing a small fortune? I take it all the listings on eBay (usually from Hong Kong) are fakes?- markopolo

HELP! My XP amp and PK1s are toast!!
I got them from HeadRoom last year. I guess I should have been more cautious with the amp, but you would think the recharging circuit would have some sort of built-in fuse to protect your gear. Maybe a faulty/mismatched DC adapter (it came with the amp)? I might just decide to go ampless for a...- markopolo

HELP! My XP amp and PK1s are toast!!
My beloved work rig just went up in flames when I plugged in the DC adapter (which I've done many times before) while listening to some music. I heard a loud buzzing noise followed by a burning sensation in my ears as the buds quickly heated up. I hurried and unplugged everything and turned off...- markopolo

Should I throw in the towel on my e4's?
Same problem with the cord going bad on my first pair (cracking of cord-earphone sleeve that led to shorting problems). But Shure replaced under warranty and second pair going strong (great workout IEMs). Have you tried the black olive foamies? I agree about the anemic bass, but I use MP3Gain...- markopolo

My Yuin PK3 hurts! :((
I recently picked up the PK1s and had the same problem with the fit--just couldn't get them in far enough to get decent sound. If you're not afraid of looking somewhat like a dork, try this: wear them sideways and upside down. What I mean is turn them so that the drivers are facing forward and...- markopolo

What EQ do you use for your iPod?

What EQ do you use for your iPod?
Almost any EQ setting on the iPod will cause the signal to clip since there is no built-in preamp adjustment like there is in iTunes (damn it Apple, are you listening!). I have to lower the gain on all my files, which is a real pain. But in my opinion, unless you're listening to a perfectly...- markopolo

iPod 5.5 vs 6?
Discussed ad nauseum already, but I still maintain there is definitely a noticeable difference between the two, even after going back to the store recently for another audition/comparison. 5.5G = smooth, warm, non-fatiguing. 6G = harsh, overly bright, grainy-sounding. Plenty of people dig the...- markopolo

Size comparison: PK1 vs. stock Apple earbuds?
Thanks for the info. I only have experience with the old iBuds, so maybe I will give the PK1's a try. Any reason I should wait (i.e., a new and improved model from Yuin expected anytime soon)? Thanks again.- markopolo

Size comparison: PK1 vs. stock Apple earbuds?
Can anyone who has both tell me which of these is smaller? If you have the exact diameter in millimeters even better. I'm thinking of getting the PK1's to replace my PX100's at work but I always had difficulty jamming those stock Apple iBuds in my ears (too big). Also, how do you think they will...- markopolo

ipod classic sound quality worse than 5g true or false.
Just to give equal time here... I've been at a loss for some time now to understand why what I was hearing through direct, extended comparison of the two models was so different than what everyone else was hearing. I desperately wanted to like the 6G but just couldn't get past the shrill...- markopolo

Best small portable amp under $120?
In terms of overall SQ. Would like to stay as small as possible. Here are the ones I'm looking at: C&C Box+ iBasso T2 MiniBox-D (or MiniBox-E if vastly better than the others) Using with iPod 5.5G->LOD->E4c/PX100. Open to other suggestions. Thanks!- markopolo
