Working in a fairly noisy molecular biology lab, and looking for a way to have IEM's and mics for 2+ people hooked up to a PC. Goal is basically to shut out external noise, and for everyone to be able to talk to everyone else while looking at experiments. If this were just a 2-party call...

Due to TMJ pain I've had to stop listening to cans, and I really miss the incisive mids and bass of the HE-6.  In general dipoles (Nola & Maggies) are the closest I can seem to get to the experience - but has one found speakers that rival the textured mids of the top planar headphones?  Thanks!

There's a bump in the HE6 response around 9.5 khz I find it absolutely essential to EQ out, which I do with electri-q in winamp.  However, that keeps me away from JPlay.  Has anyone found a player with EQ that works well for them?  Thanks!

Currently using an ESS-based dac, which I like a lot, but upgraditis and some spare cash have struck simultaneously.  Has anyone moved on from the 7.1 to something else?  Appreciate your input before I take the plunge.   Would be using the setup with HE6 and an F5 clone.

There's gap in the clear coating covering the a main strand of the cable to my HE6.  It's starting to oxidize from that point - is there something I can do to stop it?  Deoxit+eletrician's tape?  Heat shrink seems like it will not work as I can't slip it into the woven cable.     Thanks!
