Sennheiser HD800 vs. Stax SR-007 - entering Summit-Fi.
Hi everybody! I've been a head-fier for an indecent amount of time, and I've spent an equally indecent amount of money on this hobby of ours. The next 'step' on my proverbial ladder, however, is to enter Summit-Fi proper. Before I talk about why I opened this thread, I want to talk about the...- ZarakiSan

[IC] Dutch meet in November, December orJanuary
Hey guys, I just got a pair of HE300's and a friend of mine got an HD650, so yesterday we arranged a nano-meet to compare the two. It was so much fun! I nearly forgot how fun that was (even though our last meet was in, what, May?). We also started talking (well, mostly, I did)...- ZarakiSan

Broken UE-11's in the Netherlands - repairing options?
So I had a very bad, rather gut-wretching accident with my UE-11's today... They fell on a tile floor and one of the shells shattered. The drivers seem to be fine and the cabling even looks to be intact. Obviously I want to repair (which I guess means reshell) them... Cutting to the...- ZarakiSan

Experience with Presonus' Firestudio Mobile's headphone output and general quality
I was wondering if anyone owns this piece of kit on here. I've just returned my Phonic Firefly 302+ yesterday, which had extremely bad issues with the S/PDIF input (so if anyone knows how good the one on the Presonus is, please let me know), as well as a noisy headphone output. Considering...- ZarakiSan

Budget headphone amp with low gain & extremely low noise for UE-11.
Hey guys, I'm thinking about using my UE-11's at my desk and want a nice, cheap-ish (read: below $200) desktop amp with low gain and very low noise. I prefer no CMOY or that kind of jazz. Are there any recommendations for high-sensitivity earphones? Edit: I don't need a DAC.- ZarakiSan

USB/Firewire - Optical input, (balanced) output, headphone amplifier built in - OS X
The title sums it up, but once more, I'm looking for a sound card / audio interface that has an optical INput, preferably (but not required) a balanced output and a decent (or at least somewhat decent) headphone amplifier. I don't even have any proper headphones (Outside of HD-25's) right now...- ZarakiSan

Is there any competition at the price point of the SRS-2050 set?
I sold my Audio Technica W5000's. I sold my Beyerdynamic DT880's. I heard the Stax 404LE + SRM 323 (not sure on the amp) set at a local meet a year ago and I loved it. It was by far my favorite of all the headphones there, which included an L3000, LCD-2, The R10 and an unfortunately broken...- ZarakiSan

JH audio cables & UE11 - compatible?
So, I have a pair of UE11's with a cable I don't like (the old fatty silver one), and I want a new one. JH is the only company I know that makes short (18") cables, and I really would like that. Are there other options for short cables, by the way? And would the JH cable work on my UE's?- ZarakiSan

UE-11: Recabling and bent pins
So, I've owned a pair of UE-11's for about one-and-a-half years now. I'm still very much happy with them, but I've a problem: The earphones are of course molded, but on the left ear, the mold didn't work out perfectly on the side of the connector. The pins that insert into the earphones need...- ZarakiSan

Amping Stax on the cheap
I fell in love last Sunday at the excellent meet in Soest, the Netherlands. Not with the L3000 as I expected, though they too were very nice, but with the Stax sound (on an sr404). Hell, I'm even considering not getting a Macbook Pro, but getting a Stax setup instead. The problem is that I...- ZarakiSan

The iPhone 3GS, sound quality and controllability
I got one. The iPhone 3GS in 32GB and white to be exact. It sounds very very nice. The bass is immediately stronger is my experience, than the iPod touch 2G. That's very odd, but it makes for a funner sound, which is exactly what I like in my sound with UE-11's straight from the headphone out...- ZarakiSan

eBay USB DAC/AMP
Mini USB DAC MK2+Headphone Amplifier(PCM2707+PCM1793+.) - eBay (item 290293969829 end time Mar-05-09 18:58:05 PST) Anyone have any idea on how good this thing is? It looks very interesting for a new USB DAC/AMP and it has a lot of nice connections. Update 1: I found the real page about it...- ZarakiSan

Best option for flexible, short, durable wire?
I'm trying to find a nice type of wire to DIY with, as a 3.5mm jack interconnect for a future amp. I want very short (Read: Less than two inches of wire exposed) cable that's good for beginners, is very flexible, rather endurable, thin, and not awkward-looking. Oh, and lastly, readily available...- ZarakiSan

Dt880 amp, under 250 dollars.
I know that home amps seem to cost a lot of money, and portable amps seem to be kings in the low-budget market, but I still want to know: What amps can I use to sufficiently power my DT880's?- ZarakiSan

Small, for UE-11, DT880, $250
So, I'm looking for a porta-amp and I want it to be rather small. The smaller the better, really. I will also be using it at home, to power DT880's, but on-the-go, my upcoming UE-11's will want some Juice from it. Now, I'm a fairly balanced listener and I'd be happy with a neutral, yet juicy and...- ZarakiSan

ZVM versus Zune
Oh god, I just can't pick. I own an Archos 605, but I want something smaller for general use, not just the video watching stuff. I bought a Clip, but while it's great, I broke it, and I'm looking for something new. Either the ZVM or the Zune 80, basically, both having nice controls. I got...- ZarakiSan

D2 + TV cables + Easy soldering = line out?
Title says it all. But to explain: The D2 can do vidoe to a TV. If I'd solder the cable to only have a mini-jack out, wouldn't the D2 have a line out as well?- ZarakiSan

No fun on the SE530's
So, I bought a pair of SE530's here on head-fi, and while shipping and everything went fine, I just can't have any fun wearing them. Sure, the sound is a step up from my CX300's, but it's nothing like, not even close, to the sheer energy the DT880's seem to have. Theres no sparkle on the...- ZarakiSan

Cheap portable interconnects 0.5-1M?
So, eh, I'm not a cable believer all that strongly. Don't hurt me! But after soldering my own XLR (Technically, it was DMX) cables, I know how easy it can be to make professional-quality cables... Anyhow, I'm looking for interconnects. Multiple, two in fact, but I found one for at home use...- ZarakiSan

SF5Pro versus Q-Jays (Do these threads ever end?)
I swear, there's dozens of threads on these phones, but I really need a personal one, because there's some stuff that are personal, about these phones. First off, I have DT880's, and I plan to power both the IEM's and the DT's with my CMOY. It's a BSG one, so it had dual gain, one set for my...- ZarakiSan

CX300's broke, want upgrade
Needless to say, I want something better now that my CX300's are broken. I've been looking around for a while already, and I basicaly think of the UE5Pro's and the Q-Jays as the top contenders. I own some Dt880's as my home-cans, and I love them! They provide an excellent soundstage, are very...- ZarakiSan

Front audio support, analog line out?
Is there such a thing as a good, quality, sound card, that can do a true line ou t from a set of RCA's or a minijack, that also has front audio connectors? I seriously doubt it, but I'm curious. it would also be glad if it wasn't an obscure brand, they're hard to get in Europe. I don't...- ZarakiSan

Audiphile 2496 or Revolution 5/7.1?
So, erm, I haven't found all that much about these cards yet, but I want to know which of these is more recommendable. PMP with good music capabilities
Hi guys, it's been a while. So, I purchased an iPod last summer, and, well, I can't watch movies on it. They're too small, and I use Rockbox. Rockbox. Yeah, that spoiled me somewhat.
